Kentucky Pets Alive

Kentucky Pets Alive Since 2008, KPA has been committed to animal rescue and our mission statement: Every Life Matters. The mission of saving some but not all was not our mission.

Kentucky Pets Alive is a volunteer based 501c(3) organization that was originally formed in August 2008 as Shelby County No Kill Mission of Kentucky, Inc. with the mission to save all adoptable animals at The Shelby County Animal Shelter , which was an open admission municipal shelter until July 2014. We assisted the shelter in becoming the first no kill community shelter in Kentucky and helped ma

intain the no kill status for 6 years by providing the following programs: foster care, microchips for every animal adopted, collars and leashes for transported animals, medical care/supplies to sick and injured, the operation and funding of an inhouse spay/neuter clinic, offsite adoption sites/events and volunteers to assist with the physical/emotional care of the animals. During these six years, over 10,000 animals left the shelter alive. In August 2014, Shelby County No Kill Mission and the Shelby County Animal Shelter went separate ways. We changed our name but not our mission. Our new name, Kentucky Pets Alive, continues to reflect our mission: Every Life Matters. We will assist animals throughout Kentucky as our volunteer and support base accommodates.

Judah was on the euthanasia list because he had plasma cell pododermatitis and tested positive for FIV+. Thankfully we have a great group of people willing to transport Judah almost 2.5 hours one way to our medical team and an open spot with a medical foster along with a great group of volunteers and donors. Our village saved Judah and this sweet boy was able to have the opportunity to have a terrific forever human and home! Congrats Judah and Welcome Joanie to the Kentucky Pets Alive family !

******. Medical Friday with a Matching Opportunity****
Meet Grace an 8 week old kitten who came to us last night with a degloved lower jaw and a severely lacerated upper lip/mouth trauma. We don’t know the exact cause of injury but she was reported to have fallen or thrown from a car. Thanks to a generous donor, we still have until 7/7/25 to match donations up to $5000. We currently have $1207. Any donation towards Grace’s surgeries and hospitalization is greatly needed!

This grant could really help with our outstanding and ongoing medical bills!

Thanks to a matching gift, your donation will go even farther!

We are a small volunteer rescue who struggles daily to help those that would otherwise not have a chance. Outstanding medical bills have and will severely impact our ability to help others😢

Every dollar goes to the care of the rescues - outstanding medical bills, meds, preventatives, food, litter and supplements.
No donation is too small and is greatly appreciated 💕🐾

Barron & Beau were adopted as kittens and returned when unexpected family hardships struck. These awesome brothers then had to wait a long time for a forever home together. While Beau is FIV - brother Barron and the rest of his family are FIV +
Thank you Holly for opening your heart and home to these brothers. Welcome to the Kentucky Pets Alive family!

This medical Friday we are literally begging for donations to finish Boots’ FIP treatment and our large outstanding medical bills.

Boots came to us with a severely pr*****ed rectum/colon. After recovering from multiple surgeries, he developed FIP. He completed 2/3 of his FIP treatment. We did not raise enough for his meds and His foster has dug deep and paid for his treatment for the first 2 months. They can no longer pay the remaining $850 needed to save him.

We are a small volunteer rescue who struggles daily to help those that would otherwise not have a chance. Our volunteers and fosters have gone above and beyond and can no longer pay the medical bills. Outstanding medical bills have and will severely impact our ability to help others😢

This medical Friday is daunting as the need is great between what is still outstanding and what is urgent. Our little Elvis came to us last week with a broken and malaligned jaw. We raised almost enough for his initial surgery and hospitalization. His injuries were worse than anticipated. His lower jaw has been wired and stabilized. Now he needs a second surgery to help realign top with bottom. He is super sweet and hasn’t missed a beat with eating purée. His medical team is hoping to achieve this second procedure at an estimate of 1,000.

Boots came to us with a severely pr*****ed rectum/colon. After recovering from multiple surgeries, he developed FIP. He completed 2/3 of his FIP treatment. We did not raise enough for his meds and His foster has dug deep and paid for his treatment for the first 2 months. They can no longer pay the remaining $960 needed to save him.

We are a small volunteer rescue who struggles daily to help those that would otherwise not have a chance. Our volunteers and fosters have gone above and beyond and can no longer pay the medical bills. Outstanding medical bills have and will severely impact our ability to help others😢

Our new name, Kentucky Pets Alive, continues to reflect our mission: Every Life Matters. We continue to assist the animals in Shelby County, but we are also assisting other counties who are actively striving to save all adoptable pets. We are now assisting Jefferson, Anderson and Davies counties. As our volunteer and support base grows, so will our areas of assistance.
