STREET OUTREACH: We hand-deliver pet food, supplies and provide veterinary assistance to the houseless with companion animals. We work with caseworkers that are helping the houseless with pets transition to homes to make sure they receive the pet food and assistance that they need to keep their pets healthy and happy during their transition period.

In honor of Veteran's Day, we are announcing a new program called Sponsor a Vet with a Pet. We were recently contacted by several caseworkers for unhoused veterans with pets that were overdue on vaccinations or needed medical treatment and we were able to help. We would like to be able to do more. Stay tuned for more information!

It's time again to fill the pantries. We like to provide pet food to several people/pet food pantries around the city, with our focus on Portland, downtown and the Highlands. To reach more people, we also stock small pantries with canned and dry food, leashes and treats. If you would like to help, please comment here and we will provide a drop off location. We feed lots of cats, too, so dry, canned and litter is always welcome.

A huge thank you to Shelby and Three Dog Bakery-Louisville in Westport Plaza for the amazing donation of Fromm dog food. Like many grass roots charitable groups, we've seen a drop in donations which has forced us to sometimes purchase food at retail prices. This is a huge boost to us and we will be filling up several little pantries and donating to several churches with food drives, in addition to distributing to the streets.

Pets we have helped with vet care in the past few months. There are so many that we are asked to help, that are found wandering the streets or are with an unhoused person who does not know about us. These situations make us the saddest because not only is the pet suffering but also the owner because they are unable to get their pet medical care. Most of these situations are so urgent that there's no time for pictures.

We have been hit hard with vet bills lately. Some very serious issues where pets have passed and also minor issues that could become major without our intervention. I want to thank so many community resources that have come to our rescue such as Pets4Life for their preventative care for the fur babies. Treating Parvo can knock out a big portion of our budget.
We also thank Borden Crematory for two recent cremations. We know the bond between people and pets and believe that for those who have nothing more than the pet, it's important to provide an urn and other keepsakes when their beloved pet passes.
Please consider a donation to us to help us continue to provide these services. You can go to MyDogEatsFirst.org, Venmo@MyDogEatsFirst or Paypal-mydogeatsfirst.com.

Our mission is to provide pet food, supplies, basic vaccinations and spay/neuter services for the pets of the homeless in Louisville, KY.

It's been a rough week in our community, so how about some happy news? Met up with two people that we used to serve who were a part of the houseless community for many years. They have found housing, are sober, they are furthering their education, have a nice vehicle, have two beautiful fur babies, Loki and Thor and a REAL baby on the way, due in December. My Dog Eats First supplies food and puppy pads when needed but Thor recently broke his leg while acting like a puppy, and we were able to provide vet care. He didn't like his cast much, but he is now back to being a wild, crazy pup.
This is why we still believe that miracles do happen.

We are in need again of indivual gallon bags of dog and cat food. There are several churches giving away "people food" that can use our help on a weekly/monthly basis. The price of pet food has risen drastically and pet owners attending these events are struggling. Please send us a message and we will supply a drop-off location.

We just want to thank everyone for all the wonderful donations left at our front doors. Without these donations, we couldn't stock little pet pantries or make pet food donations to several churches in needy areas with food pantries.
