Do you know where to look on your bag to find information regarding the product inside? 👀 Each bag of feed has specific information printed on it and the attached tag to help YOU identify your feed. Let’s start with what’s printed directly on the bag! Product code and date: Each of our 30+ products has its own individual product code. The product code printed in this photos is EE13 which correlates to Fortify. The product code of a feed will NEVER change and you can always identify which feed is in a bag by this code even if your tag has been removed! The date when the feed was blended and bagged is also printed so you know which bags are the newest! The date on this bag is EE021224 which means it was bagged on the 12th of February, 2024 🙌 Feed Tags: your feed tag contains important information about the nutrients, ingredients, and feeding rate of your grain as well as the name of the feed. Your feed tag offers insight into your bag of feed. Each feed tag contains information on the essential nutrients that go into horse feed: Protein, Fat, Fiber, Vitamins, and Minerals. The analysis of these elements are guaranteed and subject to regular testing. They also list the ingredients of the feed. Look for specific ingredient names instead of generic ingredient names. This means a bag of feed will not be subject to regular change without the feed tag changing as well. Excel feed bags are LOCKED IN and will not be changed! Feed tags will also include information on how to feed each specific type of grain to specific horses. When a product is not fed according to directions, the full nutritional benefits of the feed may not be realized, and the feed may not perform as intended.#horsecare #horses #equestrian #facts #fyp #horselife

Soybeans in horse feed!
FULL BLOG POST:
You know what day it is 👀 Today’s #somethingyoushouldknow Saturday is all about #SOYBEANS 🌱
Over the past decade, "soy" has been a buzzword in both human and equine nutrition. Luckily for us, soybeans have been heavily researched in multiple species, including horses, that gives us insight to the health benefits and risks of a soy inclusive diet.
To begin, soybeans are a highly versatile ingredient- they can be used as a source of protein in the form of soybean meal, used as a fat in the form of soybean oil, or a source of fiber in the form of soybean hulls.
Not only is soybean meal a great source of protein with the crude protein content being 46-50%, but the digestibility of this protein is on average more than 90%[1]! Other protein sources typically have less than 80% digestible protein.
In addition to soybean meal providing a large quantity of protein, it also provides a high quality source of protein. The quality of a protein source can be measured by the concentration of essential amino acids it provides. Soybeans have a high concentration of lysine, the first limiting amino acid, as well as threonine and methionine. Therefore, when feeding a high quality source of protein, the animal can be more metabolically efficient, rather than feeding a large quantity of a low quality protein that would result in excessive nitrogen excretion.
Soy oil is a commonly used source of calories in horse feeds, as it is 99.9% fat. This is a bioavailable, palatable, and biologically appropriate source of fat calories for horses. Some concerns with soy oil are in relation to the omega-3 to omega-6 ratio, with a higher concentration than omega-6's. However, when looking at the diet as a whole, pasture grasses and other forages have the ideal omega-3 to omega-6 ratio of 4-5:1. Therefore, the whole diet still retains a higher ratio of omega-3's.
Lastly, soybean hulls are a great source of readily fermentable fiber. Fiber that is easily fermented i

🐴 All thoroughbreds can be traced back to 3 stallions, yet they come in all shapes, sizes, and abilities! It’s amazing to watch what you do with your #fueledbyExcel OTTBs!
🐴 Thoroughbreds are typically thought of as “hard keepers” but with the right feeding regime, these horses can be just as easy to keep fit and healthy as your beloved backyard pony! Contact us for a free nutritional consult if you’re struggling with a hard to keep thoroughbred!
