Dogs benefit greatly from learning to relax! Many dogs needs to be taught how it feels to lower their arousal level. We can actually train the brain that it feels better to be relaxed than worked up!

Why do we call our initial session a “Successful Start Session” instead of a consultation?
The short answer is that we care about each and every dog and person who enters our facility. No matter what, you will be heard and believed and supported. You will go home knowing more about your dog and what you can start doing right away to improve your dog’s behavior.
Our Successful Starts take place in our living room area at the facility or through Zoom, which provides your dog with a calmer, low pressure environment and comfortable places to rest! You will have the opportunity to share everything on your mind plus any and all questions you have. Megan, our owner and head trainer, will give you insights into your dog’s behavior, teach you how to start changing unwanted behaviors, and provide you with more information about who we are and how our unique program works!

There is a ton of information out there about dog training, ranging in quality from helpful to dangerous. Your dog loves Nose Work, and so do you, but it's likely that you have both had some other feelings about the activity at times! Most of us get into this sport because we've heard that dogs love it, and then along the way, we get sucked in by the joy and enthusiasm our dogs exhibit when practicing this activity. If you love it so much you decide to trial in this sport, sometimes the game starts changing for you and the dog. Suddenly there are outside pressures on your teamwork - Find all the hides, don't time out, call finish at the right time - we all feel it! We spend a lot of time focusing on training the dog, and not a lot of time reflecting on how our own attitudes and biases can affect our ability to show up as the best handlers we can be.

What is your favorite part about being a member of Community Unleashed?
The open supportive learning environment! I learn something new every call and never feel judged or silly for asking questions. As a new trainer it's been incredibly uplifting.

How has the ability to connect with like-minded dog owners, both on calls and online, impacted your life?
It's given me joy. Working with reactive dogs can feel lonely, but having this community has given me so much joy and confidence that I can do this. We laugh and learn. I sincerely look forward to the community calls. We are solely online and still get so many practical skills from the calls. The other members are so supportive and we celebrate together and nerd out.

How has the Community impacted your relationship and training with your dog?
Incredible! Keelo already loves to work for food. But being able to show where I'm stuck and be given alternatives to achieving a goal that works for both of us has made training so fun!!!

Would you like to leave reviews for individual instructors?
Skye is possibly one of the most patient people I've come across. I was worried about training in front of others but Skye has a way of making you feel comfortable and offering solutions that work for both me and my dog. I've never once felt judged for being so new in the training world. Only excitement, acceptance and compassion.

Is there anything else you would like to share? If you are not in person you still gain SO MUCH from this community. The videos, and the calls alone are worth it.
