Of course it was mules that helped build this country. Settlers, miners, army men, farmers, and ranchers needed the hardiest, strongest, most agile, most intelligent, bravest partners to conquer the unforgiving west. 🎞️📽️

Yesterday Nestle and I worked on turning on the forehand. I believe I only showed her this once before. She did great and caught on quickly! Naturally steps behind and not over!

🦋 Nestle (Nessie) is officially up for adoption! 🦋

🦋 Estimated 16-18 year old 16hh flaxen chestnut mare
🦋 This girl is tall and wiiiide. Looks like she could be a quarter horse thoroughbred cross but who knows. She has gorgeous roaning and a flaxen mane and tail. Definitely a pretty girl.

🦋 Saved from a kill lot and then relinquished to me due to her behavior problems last September. Nessie has severe trauma. Her whole body would shake any time I would touch her. She obviously has tremendous fear towards people that is improving and not male or female specific. She is likely going to be a one person horse. I am offering her up for adoption now because we just don’t click. I think she is going to be the perfect horse for someone that clicks with her and who has the time to build trust and connect with her. She has built a lot of trust in people overall! I am super proud of how far she has come and am excited to see where she will go with a partner who can create a trusting relationship. She is a BOSS MARE with her pasture mates. She will get pushy with people if boundaries are not set, typical boss mare. But once boundaries are set, she is very respectful and attentive. She does very well overall as long as she is treated respectfully and worked with slowly. All groundwork is done and done the right way. Just started under saddle and will continue to do so until adopted out.

THE GOOD:
🦋tall, wide, athletic
🦋very big gorgeous movement at wtc
🦋can be led, lunged, and do all groundwork with ease
🦋can be tacked up no problem, and not cinchy
🦋has been sat on twice without flinching or blinking an eye
🦋trailers no problem
🦋can be on pasture or dry lot
🦋has never shown any signs of aggression despite the fear
🦋will stand calm and still while being worked with even if not tied
🦋she is sensitive in a good way and responds very well to release of pressure, all I have to do is motion towards what I want from her and she does it, no need for whips/flags etc
🦋she picks up on new things fast and remembers what we have worked on even if she sits for a few days
🦋has been around kids, dogs, pigs, and chickens

THE BAD:
🦋she has rotation in both front feet and is thin soled, she needs shoes on all four and pads in the front as well, her hooves are still not perfect but are improving, she will not be able to jump or do high impact sports, vet believes that she was born with the rotation and has not foundered before, I have not done recheck rads to see if shoeing has improved the rotation
🦋needs heavy sedation for farrier work and the vet but still let’s me clean out her hooves no problem
🦋she is a hard keeper, needs full time pasture or grained, I have not tried her on alfalfa due to rotation
🦋vet, farrier, whips, flags, undue pressure puts her into so much fear that she tries to run away and run you over, she is getting better and is better about not running me over, once she is set off then it is hard to bring her back down out of that fear response
🦋can be hard to catch if not worked with consistently but easily fixed with simple pressure and release

Located in Loveland, Colorado. Adoption fee is starting at 1🥕🥕🥕 and will increase as training continues.

Welcome to my business page! Super excited to launch my official mule (and other equine) training and rescue business. After looking for professional mule guidance over the last few years, I often got responses that involved force, heavy hands, and abusive training because “mules are stubborn and need to know who is in charge.” I refuse to treat mules this way or any other equine. Thank you for joining this adventure with me! 🩵💚
