A few weeks ago, we gathered at Sylvan Dale to honor the life of our palomino gelding, Goldwood RainBo—known to us all as Bo. Born in 2019, and raised right here on the ranch, Bo became a companion on the trail with the wranglers, a natural with cattle, and a true master at the gate.

Although efforts to save him after his injury in a trailer during transport as a result of the Alexander Fire were unsuccessful, his spirit remains strong in our hearts. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support from all who donated towards his care.

Our recent Business After Hours event is officially in the books! Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the Loveland Chamber for Business to Sylvan Dale for a special ranch-style evening of connection and community.

It was a fantastic night for Chamber Investors to create new business relationships in a relaxed, rustic setting. Guests enjoyed open networking, hearty appetizers, door prizes, and refreshing beverages. To top it off, Susan treated us all to a special Sylvan Dale tradition, serenading us with “Cowboy Logic” on her guitar.

Thank you to everyone who came out! We loved sharing this experience with you and can’t wait to do it again.

🇺🇸 To Our Veterans 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor the incredible bravery and sacrifice of those who have served our country—including members of our own who have proudly served in the Army and Marine Corps. At Sylvan Dale Ranch, we are deeply rooted in history and tradition, and we know that our freedoms are only possible because of the dedication of our men and women in uniform.

Your courage and commitment lay the foundation for the life we hold dear, and we are forever grateful. Whether you have served in the past or are currently serving, please know that we see you, we celebrate you, and we thank you.

Because of you, places like Sylvan Dale can continue to thrive and welcome families to the land we cherish. Thank you for protecting this land we love. 💙❤️

Last month, we had to say our goodbyes to one of our beloved horses, Pawnee. Those of you who have visited the ranch over the years will surely know how much he will be missed. It's taken us a little over a month to be able to compose this note to you all, as our hearts have been heavy. Pawnee's Ranger was born in 1993, and came to us from the Colorado Cattle Company back in 2005, at just 12 years old. He lived a very good long life, being 31.5 years old the day he passed. There are so many wonderful things to remember about our Pawnee pony. Though small in stature, this paint gelding was larger than life! He started out as a sassy young chap and was ridden by those who had some experience before he settled down in to the novice string. And boy, did he NOT like being ridden ba****ck. He did willingly carry Karen ba****ck up Green Ridge when she and Lonnie needed to get horses on the other side of the river after the 2013 flood though. He knew something was going on, and stepped up to the plate. Just don't grab his mane to hold on, lol. Due to his forward nature, he didn't actually become a "kid's" horse until 2012, when he was 19! Pawnee had enough spirit to carry the herd, and that he did. He was always the first to lead the jingle each morning and evening, every time. In fact, if the horses escaped a pasture, or got headed the wrong direction, all you had to do was call out "Pawnee!!!" and he would lead the way to where they needed to go. He was one of a kind, that's for sure. This adorable paint pony gave so much joy to so many people as they rode the trails, competed at the Gymkhana, and rounded up cattle. He had a spirit that would not slow down and a gait to match. Nearly 20 years at Sylvan Dale, he deserved to rest here on ranch next to one of his best friends, Billy Jack. You can visit him over by the old mare/foal pasture where you'll find a lovely painted rock and horseshoe headstone. Luna, his stable-mate during his last years, was able to say her goodbyes and will miss him as much as all of us who came to love him. Thank you, Pawnee, for Ridin’ for the Brand. - Karen & Susan

*Please take a moment to enjoy this collection of photos from over the years. Feel free to comment with photos you have of him as well. 🤠❤🐴

Meet Chevy from the Sylvan Dale Ranch herd.

Chevy is our only Draft Cross, and let us tell you, he’s got a personality as big as his heart! With a puppy dog demeanor and unique markings—a star that leads into a crooked strip over his left nostril, a snip on his muzzle, and a white lower lip—he’s truly one of a kind. This year, Chevy is stepping into his new role as a wrangler horse, learning the ropes to become a future guest horse. Oh, and we can’t forget about his best friend Sally. These two have quite the love affair going on.

A heart-healing, life changing retreat guided by horses, nature, and women unfolded last week. “Horses are magnificent healers. They filter our energy system, ground our presence, and show us aspects of ourselves we may have forgotten. The awareness that comes from this exploration is transformative, life changing, and comes to each person in the most perfect way.” Facilitator Anne Altvater shared.
