Dr. Kathleen Cooney, alongside Dr. Sheilah Robertson and Dr. Lori R. Kogan, has co-authored a groundbreaking study exploring the use of lidocaine and mepivacaine as sole euthanasia agents.

Published in the American Journal of Veterinary Research, this work opens important conversations about drug availability and alternative protocols in end-of-life care.

This beautiful Art Therapy kit was created by CAETA graduate Dr. Carla Pilla, CPEV, to help children process grief during and after euthanasia appointments. Inspired by Dr. Cooney’s teachings, Dr. Pilla says she’s grateful for how much she’s learned through CAETA—especially when it comes to supporting families through one of the hardest days of their lives.
