Did you know that the honeybee is the ONLY insect to produce food for human consumption? In it’s lifetime, a honeybee will produce 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey – YES you read that right! These insects are the most industrious and productive of their kind.

Knowing that may be part of why our Honey Bee dog biscuit is currently one of my favorite products made at The Biscuit Barkery of Northern Colorado. I also like that the biscuit is simple – four ingredients only - featuring high quality, locally sourced honey with a low calorie count of 18 per treat. I always feel good about recommending the Honey Bee to any customer because I’m able to explain which local farm sources the primary ingredient, which is Bee Squared, out of Berthoud, CO. And I love that we are not only providing a wholesome, healthy treat for dogs, but that we are supporting another small business in our community.

We are delighted to have helped Caring Canines of Colorado celebrate their volunteers this year by providing the Larimer County group with personalized peanut butter dog biscuits for the dog charcuterie table! The organization utilizes the skills of volunteers with trained canines to help individuals with social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs achieve goals set by them and their team of professionals such as psychologists, social workers and special education teachers.
What are the odds of this professional intersection occurring? Nan and Val, owners of The Biscuit Barkery, are retired special education teachers turned bakers. If this successful collaboration of theirs with Caring Canines is any indication, any forthcoming collaborative efforts could prove to be a match made in heaven.
