Haven't posted in a while. The mom and baby we rescued from the Bowie kill lot in June are doing well. The baby is weaned now and went to his new home a couple weeks ago. They named him Harley. Isabella, the mare, didn't really seem to miss him very much other than she was a bit uncomfortable because her udder was full. I cut her grain a bit to help milk production go down quicker.
I'm still looking for a mustang sanctuary for her because ideally I would love for her to be free again, with Harley it didn't really make a difference. He was only a few days old when they were captured so he only knows life in captivity. With Isabella it's different, she was free her whole life. I'm not having any luck getting any responses back from the ones I've reached out to. My next pick would be to give her to someone that has experience training mustangs. My farrier knows a former TIP trainer that she's reaching out to. I want a good life for her and one where there's no worry of her ending up in a kill pen again.
Here's some pics. 😊
