UPDATE: Both Sam & Chevy will stay together and be cared for in the same home thanks for your help in finding them a bright future!

We are reaching out during a difficult time due to Sam and Chevy's owner recently passing away, leaving behind his cherished dogs, in need of a new home(s). We are seeking a loving and caring family or rescue who can provide the same warmth and companionship that they have enjoyed.

We are hopeful that someone within our community might be able to open their heart and home to these dogs.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting/fostering or a rescue that can take in these two dogs please get in touch with us. We are committed to finding the best possible home and are willing to provide any information needed about our dog’s personality, habits, and needs.

Happy Saturday!

06/20/2024

Oh yes, being in vet med is just endless fun with puppies& kittens!

We never have to deal with anything gross, stressful, or heartbreaking.

Forget about the emergency calls, the never-ending paperwork, and foreign body surgeries.

And those hours spent analyzing lab results, or handling frightened, sometimes aggressive animals?

Let’s not even mention the heart-wrenching moments of saying goodbye to a beloved pet or managing upset clients.

BUT.... this is what we do and we love your pets and we wouldn't change a thing!

Dogs are particularly sensitive to heat and can suffer from heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke. Here are some key points to consider when managing dogs in hot weather:

1. Hydration: Ensure your dog has access to fresh, clean water at all times. Dehydration can happen quickly in the heat.
2. Shade and Cool Areas: Provide a shaded area or cool spot for your dog to rest. Avoid leaving them outside for long periods, especially during peak heat hours (10 AM to 4 PM).
3. Exercise: Limit vigorous exercise during the hottest parts of the day. Opt for early morning or late evening walks when temperatures are cooler.
4. Pavement Check: Pavement and asphalt can become extremely hot and burn your dog’s paws. Check the surface with your hand before allowing your dog to walk on it.
5. Heatstroke Signs: Be aware of signs of heatstroke, which include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, confusion, vomiting, and collapse. If you suspect heatstroke, move your dog to a cooler area and contact a veterinarian immediately.
6. Cooling Measures: Use fans, cooling mats, or damp towels to help your dog cool down. Avoid using ice or very cold water, as this can cause shock.
7. Never Leave in a Car: Never leave your dog in a parked car, even for a few minutes. Temperatures inside a car can rise rapidly and become deadly.

By taking these precautions, you can help ensure your dog stays safe and comfortable during hot weather.

Father’s Day is a special occasion dedicated to honoring and celebrating fathers and father figures for their love, support, and contributions to our lives. It’s a day to reflect on the importance of fatherhood and the unique role fathers play in shaping their children’s futures. Many people express their gratitude through heartfelt messages, thoughtful gifts, or spending quality time together. Whether it’s a family barbecue, a simple phone call, or a shared activity, the essence of the day lies in showing appreciation and making fathers feel valued and cherished. It’s a time to acknowledge their hard work, sacrifices, and the profound impact they have on their families.

~~~~ 𝕄𝔸𝔻 𝕃𝕀𝔹𝕊 ---- ℙ𝔼𝕋 𝔼𝔻𝕀𝕋𝕀𝕆ℕ ~~~~
Mad Libs are a popular word game where players fill in blanks within a story with various types of words, such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs.
The result is a humorous and often nonsensical story. Typically, one player asks another for specific types of words without revealing the context of the story. Once all the blanks are filled, the story is read aloud, often leading to amusing and unexpected outcomes.
Mad Libs are commonly used for entertainment at parties, in classrooms, and as a fun way to practice language skills.
06/13/2024
Stenotic nares surgery is a common procedure for dogs with brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome (BOAS), typically seen in breeds like Pugs, Bulldogs, and Shih Tzus.
This condition causes narrowed nostrils that can obstruct normal breathing.
The surgery aims to widen the nostrils, allowing for better airflow and reducing respiratory distress. This can significantly improve the dog’s quality of life, especially for those with severe cases of BOAS.
With fireworks season approaching, it’s essential to ensure your dog remains calm and stress-free.
Now is the perfect time to order any necessary medications prescribed by your veterinarian.
Doing so in advance helps avoid last-minute rushes and ensures you have everything on hand to help your furry friend cope with the loud noises and flashing lights.
Consult your vet for the best options, whether it’s anti-anxiety medication, calming supplements, or pheromone products.
Taking these steps early will help both you and your dog have a more peaceful and enjoyable time during the celebrations.
Dogs can get stung by bees just like humans. Here are some key points to consider if your dog is stung by a bee:
1. Symptoms:
• Swelling at the sting site
• Pain and discomfort
• Itching and redness
• In severe cases, difficulty breathing, vomiting, or collapse
2. Immediate Actions:
• Remove the stinger if it’s visible.
• Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling.
• Monitor your dog for signs of an allergic reaction.
3. When to See a Vet:
• If the sting is in the mouth or throat, as swelling could block the airway.
• If your dog shows signs of a severe allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, vomiting, or extreme swelling.
• If the swelling persists or your dog seems in significant pain.
4. Treatment:
• Antihistamines like Benadryl (consult your vet for proper dosage) can help reduce allergic reactions.
• Pain relief and anti-inflammatory medications may be prescribed by your vet.
Prevention includes keeping your dog away from areas with a high presence of bees and being cautious during peak bee activity seasons.
