Where smalls and birds can all be free every single day ✨💗🎶

From September 6-8 we are launching Pink Piggy Club – a fee-waived adoption event for all the small animals at our adoption centers like guinea pigs, rabbits, mice and even birds! During this time frame we and our friends at Berkshire Humane Society, Worcester Animal Rescue League, MSPCA, and Animal Protection Center of Southern Massachusetts will all be waiving the fees for small animals in need. They may be small, but they need YOU in a big way.

Visit our website to see all the rabbits, guinea pigs & hamsters who need homes!

Mark your calendars, and if there’s a small animal you’ve had your eye on, take this as a sign! For the Lowell Humane Society you do not need an appointment and can come during open hours; Fri-Sunday, 12-4!! Please bring a photo (cellphone pic is ok!) of your cage/housing setup for your new small. Every location’s adoption process is slightly different so check the websites of the shelter nearest you.

Meet Al Davis, an eight-year-old domestic short hair who has been at the shelter for nearly three months ⁣

— I’m looking forward to a new home and friend as my previous guardian couldn’t take me with him when he moved. Initially I can be a bit shy. If you give me time to get to know you, you’ll see that once I warm up and get comfortable, I am quite a talker and would be good company for you. I like head rubs. I’ve never lived with other animals, but maybe with a slow introduction in time, it could work, but I’d also be okay with being your one and only best friend!⁣

Meet Nova 🐾

▪️Nova is a 2 year old female mixed breed
▪️She came to us as a nervous stray and is still learning how to trust but has the sweetest soul and SO much love to give ❤️
▪️Nova would do great in a house with other dogs to help her learn, a cozy window spot to watch the world, a human that is home often, and a home that has lots and lots of stuffies! She may also do well with a dog savvy cat and teens+.
▪️This girl will be your shadow, your new best friend and companion. She will need an adopter who is committed to being patient while she adapts to her environment and can fully settle in. She is a very active girl that will play with her stuffies for hours on end, but then snuggle with you for as long as you allow! She is truly the best of both worlds!
▪️She is available as foster-to-adopt until she is spayed.

What an AMAZING contest. All along we were neck in neck with RUFF Tales Rescue! It was within 100 votes almost the ENTIRE time! The end result within just ELEVEN VOTES.

It seemed only natural for two organizations with such supportive networks and the same mission, that we split the prize.

We'll meet up with our friends at MillTown Plumbing, Heating, Cooling and Electrical and RUFF Tales Rescue sometime this week for an official photo and acceptance of our prize winnings.

Thank you to ALL who supported both groups through this contest. We are so incredibly lucky to have such a supportive network!

🐾 Meet Puddles, a brave 4-year-old exotic bully who needs your help! Just a few days ago, he was found in a parking lot, struggling to breathe in the scorching summer heat, laying in a puddle. Thankfully, animal control rushed him to our care, where we cooled him down and gave him the love he deserves.

You can make a difference in Puddles' life! He needs NARES surgery to widen his nostrils and soft palate surgery help him breathe easier, along with surgery to repair a cherry eye. He’s also dealing with painful ear hematomas and, of course, will need to be neutered.

You have the power to assist Puddles in his healing journey. Your support means he can receive the surgeries he desperately needs. Together, we can ensure that he and all the other pets joining our LHS family this week get the care and comfort they deserve.

Silver Satin is one of those cats that you think you know upon meeting them, but with some time and patience, you get to know how sweet they really are. Silver Satin likes to act as a sassy, better-than-you type of cat, and let’s be honest, he probably is; but behind this misleading veil is a sweet, tender friend-to-be. He likes things a certain way, but those things are easy to learn and accommodate. An inexperienced cat parent might see this as “difficulty” or being overly particular, but cat people know that all cats are particular, and if you ask me, you’re missing out if you pass on Silver Satin just because he didn’t like the way you pet his back. That’s on you, bucko.

Silver Satin would be a great addition to the life of anyone whose household is willing to be observant, to be slow in approaching him at first, and willing to give him time and space to open up at his own pace. He has become one of my favorite cats in my time as a volunteer at the shelter, and I hope to see him find a loving home soon.

I must say, my name, Stinkin Cute Susan (Susie Q), does aptly describe me. I am an adorable, two year old polydactyl girl who is curious and loves to play, especially batting around toy mice with my big paws. ⁣
⁣
However, I really need a compassionate and cat savvy adopter who will give me lots of time and space to acclimate to my new home. The shelter has been a tough and stressful transition for me, and I don’t respond well right now to being handled and picked up. But, a calm and peaceful new home with a kind new friend could make all the difference in the world for me. ⁣

Dear community members,

We have been receiving 50-100 voicemails and emails daily in regards to surrendering pets, as well as other requests and we are struggling to keep up. We appreciate your patience as we do our best to return your calls in a timely manner.

We understand the emotional toll it takes to make the decision to surrender your pet and the frustration of not hearing back immediately. That being said, when we do return your call, please be kind to our team as we are doing our very best to first and foremost provide care to those pets currently in our shelter and find them homes, to make room to help your pets.

On that note- join our volunteer team! More hands, means helping more pets!
