Camp K Maple syrup producer Camp K Maple Syrup LLC is nestled in the foothills of the Adisrondacks, near the Independance River, and Otter Creek State Horse Trails.

It's unique and cozy location draws visitors from near and far. Whether it be by foot, horseback, snowshoes, or cross country skis, visitors enjoy exploring the wooded trails and the tranquility of the hardwood forests. The warmth of the late winter sun warms the forest and gives way to the beginning of spring. This thaw marks the beginning of the sugaring season, when we harvest the Sugar Maple s

ap, and process it into 100% pure maple syrup. Here at Camp K we use a mix of old and new technology to process our sap. We no longer tap buckets. Sap collected in buckets is gathered by hand, and hauled by tractor to the boiling shed. We also have 12,500 taps on tubing, with high vacuum. Sap flows through the tubing lines and travels to a central collection point, at which time it is hauled to the boiling shed. Once the sap is at the boiling shed, it is processed using reverse osmosis technology, followed by propane fired evaporator. It takes an average of 40 gallons of sap to produce one gallon of pure maple syrup. Syrup is available for retail sales in a variety of plastic and glass containers, of various sizes. We also have syrup available commercially, in drums. Camp K is very family friendly, and we welcome visitors of all ages!

This past week has been a busy week. The warm weather caused some concern for sugarmakers. Warm weather makes the trees think it's time to bud, as the buds develop, they change the sugars in the sap to food, ending the season. However the forecast for the next week looks very promising. We currently have processed 1.4 lbs of syrup per tap, our season goal is 4 lbs per tap. Most of the snow has melted in the woods, lots of frost still in the ground. Taste profile of the syrup is excellent.

We are so sad to learn of the passing of our friend and partner. Bob was a man of integrity and vision, with the heart of a teacher and mentor. He had a keen sense of discernment and saw potential in people. He had a way of being able to engage with people on their level, while somehow drawing out their strengths, and encouraging them to grow and thrive in their potential. He challenged them to expand their understanding and knowledge in areas of interest, and to broaden their thinking and approach in those areas. Bob understood and acknowledged the importance of all people, their positions, and their unique and valuable contributions to an organization. He was the kind of guy who valued and respected the janitor just as much as the CEO. He was a true team player. He was brilliant, yet so down to earth. He taught us much, made us laugh, and made us feel valuable. He was our mentor, our partner, our friend. We will miss him and our relationship with him, that we have come to thoroughly enjoy.🥰

So the 2021 season is in the books. A memorable season for sure. We ended the season with 60% of the syrup we make on an average year. 12,500 taps, 2,900 gallons syrup. On the plus side, across the industry, every one had a poor year. This has created a sellers market, prices are climbing.
Cheers to 2022

Big news! In April 2020 we ventured into a new area of interest. We purchased a used bourbon barrel, filled it with premium maple syrup, and let it age and infuse for about 11 months. We're bottling the finished product in these cute little flask-shaped bottles, and it will be available for purchase, this sugaring season! Don't miss out! We only made one barrel, so order yours today!

Everything was going great in the sugarhouse, and then the power goes out. The temperature is dropping, sugar in the RO membranes. What to do? Find a generator for the tractor. Use vise grips to keep the pin in the hitch. Hook up the wires, and make syrup. All in a days work.
