**Proper Preparation for Prong Pressure** - Many individuals tend to put on equipment and use it primarily for "brakes," but this approach can lead to flattening a dog’s spirit and suppressing their natural desires over time.

In this process, I’m using a loosely fitted prong collar with a short tab. By holding the puppy back with a harness, I activate opposition reflex. Next, I toss a piece of kibble and give a gentle tug on the prong towards the food. This technique pairs the sensation of the prong with the dopamine released from the excitement of chasing the food and also gives the direction cue. This method can also be applied using a ball or bumper, but I prefer food here to allow for multiple repetitions.

It’s essential to position all training tools as a β€œgo” signal before introducing any β€œno” signal. This approach effectively prepares the dog for positive punishment when using these tools.

Just took delivery of the ASD No Break Retriever System!! Super happy with the quality of the build and action πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Here I am using it for restrained recall. This creates a⚑️recall, by triggering the dogs natural drives: opposition reflex, prey drive, pack drive and food drive πŸ•ΆοΈ

Teaching this big boy Zeus how to self load πŸ’ͺ🏻By pairing leash pressure (directional guidance, -R) with slight collar pressure (-R), he learns exactly what he needs to do to turn the pressure off. Halfway through he decided to protest. That’s ok. Pressure stayed on until he complied with what he knew. PUPPY BRAIN GAMES🧠

Teaching monkey tricks with puppies can pay significant dividends over time. Our goal is to encourage puppies to think critically and foster their creativity.
During the first 16 weeks, a puppy’s brain undergoes rapid development, and introducing concepts during this period sets them up for future success. In this instance, with the right timing, I was able to guide the dog to jump through the sawhorse without saying a single word, all in just 2 minutes. It was the dogs idea!πŸ’‘
