Esmeraldaā€™s life is hanging in the balance after she was brutally hit by a car. The impact has left her with devastating injuries: a complex fracture of her right femur, a dislocated left hip, a possible pelvic fracture, internal bleeding, a broken rib, and severe chest trauma that is causing her to bleed out of her nose.

To save her, we need to raise $10,000 IMMEDIATELY for emergency surgery and life-saving care. Esmeralda requires a specialist orthopedic surgeon, intensive monitoring, and may even need a blood transfusion to survive.

Mike is back at the Ranch, but heā€™s not giving up.

After being adopted in January 2024, Mike thought he had finally found his forever. But in March, he was returned. Not because he wasnā€™t loving or loyal, but because sometimes, big energy in a small space just doesnā€™t mix. āœØļø

Originally found in Shorter, Alabama, Mike came to us with his mom and siblings from Macon County. One by one, they all found homes ā€” and now, even after a bump in the road, heā€™s still trying to find his place in the world. šŸŒļø

Mike is a high-energy, playful pup who LOVES to stay busy. Toys? Yes. Playtime? Absolutely. Adventures? Heā€™s your guy. Heā€™s also incredibly sweet. šŸ¤

Heā€™s lived with a cat before (they even played pounce together!) and had a child in the home, though heā€™s a bit of a goofball and sometimes knocks things over without meaning to. With the right structure, space to run, and a family ready to match his energy, Mike will thrive. šŸ¾

Janelle came to Big Dog Ranch Rescue all the way from North Carolina as a transfer pup, and sheā€™s been slowly but surely learning that the world isnā€™t such a scary place after all. Sheā€™s making progress each day, gaining confidence step by step, and itā€™s been a beautiful journey to witness. šŸ¤

At 7 months old, Janelle is a bit on the shy side. Sheā€™s still figuring out the world and how to trust new people, but every day she grows braver. Sheā€™s great with other dogs and absolutely loves spending time outside, whether sheā€™s playing in the yard or just relaxing in the shade. šŸŒŸ

Pebbles was found behind an abandoned house in Hialeah, Florida. She wasnā€™t alone, she had just given birth. But by the time help arrived, only one of her puppies had survived. The rest were already gone. šŸ¾

She was scared. Tired. Still trying to protect what little she had left. That surviving pup has since found a loving home. And now itā€™s Pebblesā€™ turn. šŸŒŸ

Pebbles takes daily medication to manage her seizures, but thatā€™s just one small part of her story. She's been through the worst and now she deserves the best. āœØļø

What youā€™re seeing are just some of the severe wounds caused by being dragged behind a car. Raw, torn paw pads. Nails worn down from trying to grip the road. Open sores from trying to hold himself down.

Orlando is a 2-year-old Weimaraner who weighs in at a solid 83lbs. This sweet boy is a total toy fanatic, treat lover, and is super food motivated, making training both easy and rewarding! He gets along well with other dogs and absolutely lives for quality time with his favorite people. šŸ¤

This past week was one of the hardest, but sadly, itā€™s not unusual. This is the reality we face every week in rescue.

With deep sorrow, we share that Becky has passed. She came to us suffering from one of the most severe cases of demodex weā€™ve ever seen. Itā€™s hard to believe any human could abandon a dog in that condition.

Our team did everything possible. Becky was stabilized, and the road ahead started to look bright. But in the quiet hours of the night the day after she arrived, Becky decided it was her time. She took her last breath knowing she was no longer alone.

We are heartbroken. Thank you to our community for your love and support. We carry Beckyā€™s memory with us, and we will keep fighting.šŸ¤

šŸ¾ We also took in a French Bulldog who suffered severe neglect. One of her eyes was so damaged from lack of care that it had to be removed.

šŸ¾ We rescued 4 Chihuahuas and 3 Poodles from the Redlands. They were all dying from Parvo. Theyā€™re healing well, but itā€™s a long road.

šŸ¾ A German Shepherd mama and her 6 puppies were found living under the rubble of a collapsed home.

šŸ¾ We also took in a 9-year-old Mastiff and a 6-month-old Mastiff from Lee County, a known high-kill shelter here in Florida. Both were on the brink of being lost forever.

šŸ¾ And we saved 3 Vizsla puppies from a breeder. About to be thrown away like trash because they were not making a profit.

And beyond all of this, we had multiple owner surrenders. This is our every week. šŸ’”

She was first surrendered to Big Dog Ranch Rescue in October 2024 and though she found what seemed like a new beginning, it didnā€™t last. She was returned once again, simply for wanting what so many of us doā€¦ to be loved and seen as someoneā€™s one and only. šŸ¤

She needs a home where she doesnā€™t have to compete for it for love. Sasha wants to be the center of your world, your constant, your best friend. She thrives in a space where she can be your only dog. āœØļø

But beneath all of that energy is a girl whoā€™s just longing for stability, for someone to respect her boundaries, and for a quiet life free from chaos or confusion. Because of this, Sasha would do best in a home without young children. šŸŒŸ
