If you like big, chunky, and fluffy puppies, this is the litter for you. Introducing our Beatles babies! Their mommy, Jojo, was seen being dumped on the side of the road with 3 other dogs. They arrived at a small Georgia shelter and her three friends were adopted out quickly. It was ok that Jojo didn’t get adopted fast because she surprised the shelter with her 9 babies! They had no clue she was pregnant. That’s when we stepped in to rescue the family.

These puppies are just the sweetest. They are relatively lazy but they do get little spurts of puppy energy here and there. Some like to wade in the baby pool, while others prefer to cool off on the tile in the AC! Poor Ringo Starr is the only male; his sisters are Dizzy Miss Lizzy, Eleanor Rigby, Loretta, Lucy Diamond, Marmadlade Sky, Strawberry Fields, and Yoko Ono.

All puppies are set to be spayed/neutered 9/16/24; visiting/go home days start 9/17/24. They will also be microchipped, current on vaccines, current on flea/tick preventatives, and routinely dewormed.
They are Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mixes; they will be LARGE. Their birthday is 7/21/24. Adoption donation is $350.

Adolescence occurs between six months and 18 months of age—a time when guardians typically struggle the most with their dogs. Some guardians are so overwhelmed and underprepared for this developmental stage of their dog’s life, they choose to surrender the dog to a local shelter or rescue group. In a recent study published in the Journal of Applied Animal Welfare Science found that the majority of the surrendered dogs (47.7 percent) ) were between 5 months and 3 years of age (M.D. Salman,John G. New, Jr.,Janet M. Scarlett,Philip H. Kass,Rebecca Ruch-Gallie &Suzanne Hetts, 2010)

The neurobiology of adolescence is fascinating, with some key events that alter both the structure and function of the brain.

During canine adolescence, changing s*x hormones effect the animals stress responses. Adolescent dogs have a decreased ability to process information they are receiving from the environment including the presence of dogs, vehicles, people, or really anything around them. They behave in ways that might feel frustrating or upsetting for the dog’s person.

The connectivity between the frontal cortex (responsible for decision making) and amygdala (responsible for emotional processing) decreases, resulting in less behavioral control. We see increased risk taking and more sensitivity to fear.

So what does this mean? This could mean that what was once no big deal to the dog now feels scary; what was once easy to do is now stressful; what once made sense is now confusing. At times, the world can feel like ‘too much’ for the adolescent dog.

As your puppy undergoes this transition into adulthood their inner world is intense, even chaotic. Many pet owners experience an increase in undesirable behavior and find themselves becoming increasingly frustrated. In turn, our own frustration and impatience can cause us to act unpredictably. This adds to our puppy’s inner turmoil. When the inside and the outside are both unpredictable it can be difficult for our dogs to adjust.

If you have an adolescent dog, what can you do? You can give your dog the time and space to observe what is going on around them when on leash at a distance away from the activity when possible. You can give your dog long walks to sniff and explore in nature, giving their brain time to decompress. You can offer your dog a quiet space to sleep so that they can consolidate memories effectively. You can continue training various skills, breaking them down into easier steps that can be generously reinforced.

By understanding what our adolescent dog is experiencing we gain greater compassion and understanding. When we approach adolescence with patience we create a world that is predictable and gentle so our puppies grow up to be their best adult selves.

Divot has always had the best ears. They are so uniquely folded. Divot got her name because she has a little “divot” at the end of her tail; it’s slightly kinked but only adds to her character. She is a big time snuggler, kisser, and playmate! Divot enjoys fetching sticks out of the water.

Malibu is very sweet. She enjoys playing with the other puppies and is very respectful with the mom dogs. Malibu LOVES to play in the water! Check out her action shots. She will do well in a home with a yard or a lower level apartment as long as you’re willing to exercise her like every puppy needs. Malibu has been doing great with leash walking, and she has been practicing her basic commands. She is just the best and we know if you come meet her you’ll want to leave with her!

His new dad inherited his father’s dog when he passed (amazing for not dumping her at the shelter!). She was understandably upset at losing her person, so Mr. Jay thought she could use a new friend. Breeze is celebrating! She got her cast off and the orthopedic vet said she is good to go. She of course had to get a pupcup after the appointment. Breeze is more than ready for a home. She’s 6 months old and has received all her vaccines for the year; they won’t be due again until 2025. Right now Breeze is only 29 pounds, so she will be medium sized. She is also spayed, microchipped, current on flea/tick preventatives, and current on heartworm preventatives. Please email [email protected] to meet this sweet angel.
