Get yourself a guy that can do both!
Capricho is a flashy competitor for classical or western dressage, with smooth gaits for a ba****ck stroll or a long trail ride.

Capricho is a 15.2hh, 6yo, Andalusian cross. Prior to his venture to Wellington to become a fancy dressage horse, he was trail riding, working cows and learned some Mexican dancing tricks. He neck reins easily, ventures out along the canal for hacks well, and still has a handy piaffe when requested.

He segued into the show scene last fall, competing in Intro Western Dressage, with his adult amateur owner. He was calm and confident all around the grounds - in the stables, warming up, waiting ringside and competing independently. He developed a Fan Club by the end of the day. With looks like that, such show ring presence and a sweet disposition, who wouldn't love him?

He has been in full professional training developing his classical dressage education. He is responsive to the seat aids, willingly forward, light in the hand and always tries to please. He is ready to show training level, and already has well established leg yields and shoulder-in. His body is getting stronger by the ride, allowing him to sustain self-carriage and better balance in his expressive canter. First level is right around the corner with how quickly progressing.

He is an unbred stallion, but could be gelded at buyers expense if desired, however his temperment has "earned him the right to keep his pair". He is stabled across the aisle from four mares. He talks politely to his ladies but has never put a hoof wrong. Gold star for being the goodest boy 🌟

If you'd like to meet this all-around star, he is being showcased at Laura Ashley Dressage in Loxahatchee, FL.

➡️ For the first time ever, there is a program to show you not only what is possible as an equine pro but also how to get there. Introducing my brand new course, Path to Pro. ⬅️

When I first went pro, I noticed that with my co-professionals some were having incredible success while others were really struggling and I became fascinated by what made a successful business in the horse industry. I spoke with hundreds of industry experts to learn what works and what doesn’t.

I’ve taken that knowledge that I’ve gained from other professionals and combined with my own experience as a life-long equestrian, a dual-career professional, and in corporate consulting to bring you the Path to Pro Program.

🌟Do you want to know the industry secrets for…

- Affordable approaches to sourcing quality horses
- Different options for business models with examples from real-world pros
- Personal brand building to attract sponsors and clients

You may think there is only one way to make it as a professional, but there are so many possibilities. Everyone’s path to pro looks different. All you need is a clear path forward, being a pro is so unique because you can set your business up to fit your specific goals and achieve holistic success whatever that may look like to you!

And this course can give you the knowledge and tools to create your personal roadmap for your future career.

🌟In the Path to Pro Program you’ll get:

>>> 50 On Demand Lessons: I’ll lead you through the Path to Pro Framework, developed to show you what is possible as a pro and how to get there.

>>> 4 Live Classes: Join live to ask tough questions and get the raw advice you need on your path to pro - and so much more! Plus, take this opportunity to interact with other riders (aka your co-professionals) in the course!

>>> Mission & Goal Setting Worksheets: Information is great, but ACTION is key. I’ll provide worksheets with accompanying videos to make sure you turn the Path to Pro lessons into results.

You have probably heard about riding a square, but have you tried riding an hour glass?

I often use a square to practice riding 90* counter flex turns, quarter walk pirouettes, and quarter turn on the forehands (TOF). But what happens when you need another step to make the turn more fluid or add a touch more difficulty sustaining the turn for the horse? That's where I take a 90* square turn and make it into a 120* triangular turn.

Sometimes I will continue on the first triangular, making a 3rd turn in the same direction at X. Other times I will continue across the diagonal to begin the exercises on the bottom triangular in the opposite direction.

This exercise gives you lots of opportunities to repeat the in/out of the turn without demanding too many steps. You get to work on straightness on the lines in between without the support of the wall. Just remember to keep enough space from the rail so you give your horse room to turn without crashing them into a fence.

Happy riding 🐴 and please let me know how this exercise goes for you and your horse 💕

My notes from the USDF FEI-Level Trainer's Conference will be posted all day at Laura Ashley Dressage Riders group. Here is a sneak peek:

Ride 1:

▪︎ You can always make the pirouettes smaller

▪︎ Keep the leg on walking forward, not thinking halt, coming down from canter

▪︎ Release the neck down to a 1st level test 3 frame when in the pirouette canter to minimize the nodding.

▪︎ Allow him to make the mistakes. He had to learn to do it on his own.

▪︎ Support with the leg into the downward transition. Don't ride with a backward hand then drop the horse going down.

▪︎ Ride forward to the change early, rather than holding back waiting for the change at X.

▪︎ Quality more important than exact placement.

▪︎ Make the horse sharp (like a chefs knife) first, then you can make what you want.

▪︎ Challenge yourself to have a good position.

▪︎ Riding round from the rein only works for a moment. Want the horse to give because the engine is working well behind.

▪︎ Sit in the rhythm/movement/breath you want to create.

CCS Aldor

Looks and movement that wil get you noticed in the show ring. Temperament and rideability that make daily training fun. A phenomenal personality that will make you look forward to extra time at the barn loving on your new horse.

Aldor is a 2019 (coming 5yo), 16hh Knapstrupper Gelding. He is well-bred, by Ecuador Skødstrup and is out of Xclusive Middlesom, who is by Xquisit Middlesom.

He won his dressage show debut at Training level, here in Florida, with a 68% 🏆 He schools all of first level, with easy leg yields, and is perfecting his 2nd level movements as well. He's great out on the trail alone or with company. Hacks easily on the buckle and is brave past dogs, peacocks, cow, etc. He has also been schooled over small fences.

With three good gaits and an excellent brain; he is certainly a horse that could do it all. His easy going nature under saddle and sweet disposition make him an amateur's dream, but there is still plenty of talent to develop up the level of dressage.

Come me Aldor and find out why we love this handsome horse so much.

Tomorrow at 5:00pm at the Global Covered Arena, I’ll be conducting a lecture as always for all attending the Horse Mastership Week on THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF THE ART OF DRESSAGE! If there is a singular lesson to be taught and understood by all of us, this would be it. You are welcome to come audit and meet the amazing kids who will be riding this week. For those not local enough to attend in person, it will be live-streamed on USEF-TV.

Is your horse trying to slow down or stop on you? Make them trot! Forward isn’t a choice when you ask, forward means move your feet. So, if they don’t want to move at a walk, make them pick up their feet and go!
