Happy Tuesday!

One of our own staff members brought in a sick, vomiting kitty this morning. A quick abdominal palpation revealed a firm, painful stomach. Radiographs revealed the distinct pattern of a stomach full of hair ties! Toby was added to our morning’s surgery schedule. A gastrotomy was performed, and 27 (yep!) hair ties were removed along with some plastic and rubber bands. Poor Toby is recovering well.

If you find yourself asking how does a pet eat so many hair ties and how does the owner not catch it, we’re asking too 😂. It happens to everyone, including one of us in the field!

Update: Toby is eating and going home today!

It is our pleasure to introduce you to Dr. Jet Grant. Dr. Grant grew up in a small town about 45 minutes west of Lubbock. He attended Texas Tech University for his undergraduate degree, and then proceeded to Oklahoma State University where he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Dr. Grant has a special interest in small animal internal medicine and surgery. In his time away from veterinary medicine, he enjoys spending time with his significant other, Amanda, playing golf, sitting down with a board game, and camping.
