HEAT STROKE
Know the warning signs of heat stroke in your dog! At a body temperature of 105 degrees, internal organ damage begins. I have seen a patient develop heat stroke in 76 degree weather!!
Tips to avoid heat stroke:
1. Only walk your dog in the early morning or late evening. Test asphalt temperature with the palm of your hand. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your pet. They CAN burn their paw pads.
2. Keep your pets indoors during the day, if possible. If outside, make sure they plenty of access to all day shade and fresh cool water.
3. Avoid over-exertion of short snouted dog breeds (Bulldogs, Frenchies, Boston Terriers, Pugs, Pekingese). They are MUCH more prone to heat stroke.

It's HOT🔥♨️🥵! Pets suffer from heatstroke too, which can be deadly ☠. *Breeds to watch even closer are the "smushy faced," or brachycephalic dogs, like Bulldogs (English, French, and American), Boston Terriers, Pekingese, Boxers, and Pugs. And remember- concrete and pavement is even hotter than the air temperature and can cause burnt paw pads!
