My sweet sis in law gifted me a Singer Merritt 2404, that was her Grandma’s. I got it out and did a regular cleaning. I had every size of bobbin except the singer 66, so I ordered some and then I got to try it out. It stitches beautifully and true. I will be using this machine for travel and quilt group.

Thank you Kim for such a wonderful gift.

I am going to start sewing some things to sell on here and ETSY. Keep an eye out.

Old man winter is coming to the Gulf Coast. They are saying 3” of snow and 1/10 of an inch of ice on top of the snow. Spent yesterday gathering/purchasing all the items needed to prepare the homestead. Bought 6 big tarps, lots of bungee cords, extra hay, stocked up on greens for the rabbits, pulled out the generator (bought for hurricanes not snow and ice), filled the gas cans, the vehicle, weatherized the water spigot and pipe. Made sure that all the oil lamps are full, emergency bulbs charged, solar light/fan fully charged and the second solar light charged.

And a big pot of 15 bean ham hock soup is on the stove.

Glad I have a gas fireplace and a gas stove.
Since our water pipes are so shallow in the ground, I will put up 10-15 gallons of water just in case we experience water line breaks in the city infrastructure.

As we move from 2024 in to 2025, I find myself thankful for my family, my little homestead, and having a year without supplemental oxygen. I see so much promise in 2025, I know that God will provide many blessings !

Just finished my granddaughter’s quilt for Christmas. This quilt is a little unique. Two generations (3 people) stitched this quilt. Her maternal great grandmother worked on this many years ago, she did the Sun Bonnet Sue appliqués. Her maternal grandmother worked on it with her Mom. When there was no more quilting going on, Pattie Dewar gave me all these unfinished quilt tops, blocks, just all kinds of stuff. I arranged and sewed these blocks together, quilted it on my longarm, and did the binding. Take a look at the quilt label.
