I wanted to make a post on here regarding some things that have come up regarding our Novice class. I want to reiterate the rules we have and clarify some things that were maybe a grey area.
Our rules, as stated on Saddlebook when you pre enter, as well as on our entry forms when you enter on site, are as follows:
1. You OR your horse must have less than $500 in LTE.
2. It is yours or your horse's first two years of competing.
To clarify, the $500 in LTE also includes any major awards you have won. This could mean saddles, gift cards, etc. that can add up to be $500 or more. We are specifying here because we know a good chunk of our competitors also show in gymkhana where they do not hand out cash awards.
If you come to our races and enter as an honest and true novice but continually run "open" times, we will ask you to bump up into the open. This is to keep things fair for those who aren't quite ready for the open competition. Novice is there to help those who are green competitors themselves or who are riding green horses to get exposure and experience in a competitive setting.
We will also be implementing full second splits to the novice class.
