First touches are one of the most exciting things to experience with a wild Mustang! My husband got the honors with this gelding Waylon. It’s a team effort most of the time to get these wonderful horses and b***os gentled and on their path to domestic life.

This gelding is 7 years old and was pretty flighty when it came down to trying to get first touches so the help of roping him and getting him giving to pressure really made all the difference in the world! Most the time I don’t move their feet much in the beginning stages but this guy was a bit different. This guy needed a different approach and we gave it to him and it paid off. From start to finish of this session was 2 hours. From getting him roped, first touches and getting a lead rope on and some leading. Sometimes you just got to push through to get those barriers knocked down. Excited to see the changes in this handsome gelding tomorrow!

Starting the new year with first touches on this fox hog gelding Waylon. Got him roped, first touches and lead rope on followed by pets and a small amount of leading to end the first day of the new year! Looking forward to new adventures this year and more fun mustang and b***o adventures!

Barbie is a 4 year old mare from Centennial HMA. She halters, leads, ties, loads, round pens, lunges, lots of desensitizing, some obstacles, she is good for the farrier. She is one who loves to get out and interact with her human. Very athletic mover and knows how to use herself well. Ready to get started with under saddle prep work.

Today she worked on learning to lead by each foot. She was a bit lazy on this foot and wanted to just stand like this. She ended on a good note of leading by her feet. Well on her way to domestic life and her first trim ❤️

This sweet filly has grown so much mentally over the past few months learning how to be domestic. Knowing all the things a 2 year old should know and ended her time here with her first ever trim before going back to her owners just in time for Christmas. We look forward to her coming back to get started under saddle this next year ❤️

Silent hooves on the battlefield, lost in time’s gray mist,
