(F.O.E.T.Z.) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that assists the Zoo in a supportive capacity. will focus on funding for major expansion and renovation projects in the Zoo's master plan. Ellen Trout Zoo is the Wildest Place in Town and YOUR Place to Connect to the Natural World!

We will be closed to the public today for debris cleanup. Our Junior Zookeeper and Zoo Safari camps are still on for today. Less any major setbacks, we hope to reopen for normal hours tomorrow.

🚨 Attention Zoo Safari Summer Camp Families,

Due to the Tropical Storm/Hurricane Beryl, we have canceled Zoo Safari Summer Camp all day on Monday, July 8th, 2024.

We plan to resume normal camp on Tuesday, July 9th but keep an eye out for any additional updates as the storm gets closer.

Help us flock the zoo with flamingo love! Join us in celebrating our fine-feathered friends by dressing up in your favorite pink outfit and sponsoring a fabulous lawn flamingo! For $25 you can sponsor a flamingo that will be placed at the zoo with the recipient’s name on it. All flamingos will be displayed June 22 and 23 throughout the zoo. Proceeds will go towards flamingo conservation.

ZOO CLOSED: Due to inclement weather that has caused a tree to fall on a public path, the Ellen Trout Zoo will remain closed for the rest of the day. The Zoo will reopen tomorrow during its regular hours, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last entry at 4:30 p.m. We hope everyone stays safe and dry!

🦅Today is #SaveTheEaglesDay ! In the mid-1900s, our national symbol was in danger of extinction throughout most of its range due to habitat destruction and degradation, as well as illegal shooting and the contamination of their food source by the insecticide dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, known as DDT. Habitat protection afforded by the Endangered Species Act, the federal government’s banning of DDT, and conservation actions taken by the American public have helped bald eagles make a remarkable recovery! Bald eagles were removed from the endangered species list in August 2007 because their populations recovered sufficiently & continued to grow in the years since. 🦅 Bald eagles are a fantastic conservation success story! ❤️ At Ellen Trout Zoo, we have wild bald eagles that nest across Ellen Trout Lake from our zoo property! Plus you can also say hi to our pair of Bald Eagles, Justice & Liberty, inside the zoo. They live with us at the zoo due to gunshot wounds that caused injuries to their wings so they have to live in human care. #babyupdate Our little tapir nugget is growing fast and is already at 50 lbs!

We are sad to announce the passing of our education animal ambassador, Milky Way, the Sinaloan Milksnake. Milky Way, officially known as "Dr. Milky Way", passed away at 22 years old. He had such a curious personality which helped him connect with thousands of humans (big and little) over his lifetime. Dr. Milky Way definitely left an impression on our students and will be truly missed.
