SOLD - Congrats to his new owner!

Carrots reduced on this sporty & friendly c**t. My mother is selling her farm, so Ross needs to find his new home! He will be gelded in October if not sold before then.

Brambleridge Prosper aka Ross. 2024 bay roan c**t by Coudā€™Poker Tartifume ex Brambleridge Ardent Sparrow (*TBS Declan Pondi x *Grange Finn Sparrow).

Ross is an exceptional performance prospect with a whoā€™s who of top performance lines in his pedigree. He has a double dose of Dexter Leam Pondi and Ballydonough Casanova. Both his sire and grandsire have had incredible eventing careers in the USA and his back pedigree is full of Grade A show jumping ponies. His grandsire, Declan, is also well known in the foxhunting community, having hunted eight seasons and gone out with six recognized packs. His granddam, Circeā€™s Foil, pony clubbed, foxhunted and did point to points in Va.

Rather than dreaming of buying a 50-75k import in a ā€˜few yearsā€™ buy an exceptionally bred youngster and raise him yourself. Ross already stands for grooming & picking up feet, ties and leads. Friendly, amiable temperament. His pedigree produces AA friendly individuals with talent enough for a professional. Correct conformation, great limbs and feet. Will stay pony.

The very top of the hill athletic performers are not always equally top of the hill in the breeding shed, but there is a huge correlation between performance and the ability to produce performers.

Hereā€™s a great example, Frankel, one of the best runners in his day, winning all 14 of his starts against the best horses of his era, and now one of the leading race horse sires in the world.

What that hints at is this---In other sports, jumping, eventing, dressage, whatever, if there are stallions who excelled, beat a path to their doors if you have a mare that is worthy of being bred.

Athleticism IS hereditary. So is clunkiness. Why oh why do so many breeders waste a year of their mareā€™s life breeding to some random stallion with no record to shore up his resume when there are other stallions who got it done under pressure?

Horse breeding is so often emotionally driven. Someone likes a stallion because it---pick one---has a pretty face---is close by and easy to breed to--- is MY stallion---Is a striking color---my friend betty recommended him---and so on.

Breed to winners if your goal is quality, not to guarantee anything, but to greatly increase your odds. Study pedigrees to learn how winners tend to produce better horses than do losers, or horses with no records at all.

Or waste your money, your time, your hopes.

And before you say, ā€œyes but sometimes it works,ā€ realize that just because there are exceptions, smart and analytic breeders donā€™t tend to use hope and prayer as guiding reproductive strategies.

Our Story

Though Fade to Grey Farm came to fruition in 2011, the Brambleridge breeding program started years earlier. Megan's family formed Brambleridge Farm in 1997, and she and her mother, Nancy Buchanan, began breeding ponies and pony crosses in 2004. They have worked diligently to produce good tempered, athletic ponies capable of a variety disciplines. Although the farm moved in 2007, and again to Megan and her husband, Lee's, Fade to Grey Farm in 2011, the horses and ponies still carry the Brambleridge prefix. Fade to Grey Eventing was started by Megan Buchanan Harris in 2007. Megan is a graduate upper level pony clubber, avid eventer and foxhunter. She has hunted with Bear Creek since 2007, earning her colors in 2009, and serving as an honorary whip since 2012. Megan has competed successfully through the Intermediate level in eventing, 2nd level dressage, and the 3'9" jumpers. She taught and trained for five years professionally during a hiatus from the home building industry, but returned to construction & design in 2012 and re-established her amateur status in the equestrian world. Megan is a member of USEF, USEA, USDF, ACPS and USPC. Megan has been involved with the American Connemara Pony Society in multiple capacities, including sitting on the ACPS Board of Governors for several terms, including the position of Vice President, participating on the ACPS Region IV Committee, the Awards Committee, the USEF Connemara Committee and serving as an inspector for the US ACPS Inspection program. She was instrumental in starting the ACPS' new Connemara Sport Horse registry.

Fade to Grey Farm primarily breeds Connemara Halfbreds and Connemara Sport Horses (1/4 CONN). Halfbred mares by *Grange Finn Sparrow have been the cornerstone of the program, and have crossed exceptionally well with TBā€™s and ISHā€™s - in keeping with the true Irish tradition of blending the Irish Draught, the Thoroughbred and the Connemara pony. The program has sold several foals into the hands of professionals, and looks forward to following their futures!

Fade to Grey Farm stands the imported Connemara stallion, *TBS Declan Pondi, by Dexter Leam Pondi (FRA) x Dandy Sparrow (IRE) x Ashfield Bobby Sparrow (IRE). Declan was purchased at 3 months of age and imported to the USA before he was 6 months old.

Declan is proving to have it all - temperament, athleticism, type and the willingness to try anything. Even at a young age he is competing and winning in many arenas - in-hand, jumpers, dressage and eventing - and he is an exceptional foxhunter, having begun his career in 1st field as a 4 year old. His first foals are consistent in type and character, the first will be started under saddle in 2019.
