Piggy is being adopted!!!!!♥️

Last call for Piggy! He is on the euth list for due to kennel stress, the shelter is full . He is on the list for 8-26-24 read his wonderful notes he is even good with other dogs

Piggy came in as a stray and no one has come to claim him. He is a very happy and loving dog. He does not like being in his kennel. He is listed as 2 years old and a mix. He is HW positive but he will be treated by the shelter. He is gentle and dainty in shelter play groups. He only weighs 41lbs
Piggy has spent several days in the office and we love to have him! He does best when he gets out for a walk/run first, then will take a nap on the cold floor until someone comes to visit. He greets people with LOTS of excitement, so if you can stay calm he will be more likely to match your energy. He loves toys and he is easily refocused to appropriate enrichment items when his energy level gets too high. He loves getting scratches and has a hilarous bark/howl when he wants to get your attention. He takes treats and is very food motivated, and he will go into his crate voluntarily if he wants to lay down.

Piggy will do best with someone who is patient and can provide structure and lots of exercise. He has a lot of love to give for the right family who will meet his needs. When piggy is in his kennel he is a different dog.

Piggy is leash biting in the kennel and he is very overstimulated because of the environment. In the yard, he was pacing, unable to calm down and out of breath. He allowed handling and petting in the yard without any assistance. But put him in an office after yard time to see if he could calm down and he was not able to.

All the dogs in the albums are located in Hillsborough County Animal Services in Tampa Fl (Pet “Resource” Center). Every effort is made to keep the information as up to date as possible. Shelter evaluations are difficult due to the stressful environment, so the best thing to do is to go meet the dog. We do our very best as volunteers to meet every dog and post them. Update 8/10: LULU WAS ADOPTED TODAY!

Apparently Lulu is still alive. She was supposed to be euthanized by the end of today. I’m SURE they will kill her tomorrow, unless by some miracle, someone comes and saves her.

Lulu is very sweet. She’s a small girl- they say she weighs 58 lbs but she must be bulky on the inside because she seemed tiny to me! She is listed as 2 years old but I would guess she is closer to 6 (or older). She has a grey muzzle, less than perfect teeth, and a few “old lady bumps” on her skin. She gets nervous when being handled be new people, and will need someone that is able to read her body language and take things slow, while giving her time and space to adjust to a new environment. She spends almost all of her time in the kennel, and was quarantined during the kennel cough outbreak. Full disclosure. She has bitten twice (once in Sept of 2023, once in July of 2024) when she was scared- only minor bites, both times when she was in a new situation with strange people that were all up in her face trying to touch/move her. These bites barely broke the skin of the “victim” but for Lulu, they caused her to be written off as a dangerous dog, and signed off for euthanasia.

Angelica and I gave Lulu a bath. She did not growl, snap, bite, or threaten us in any way. We could tell she was nervous so we handled her gently. She loves to sniff and run around. She is not a bad dog, she is a dog that has been through some s**t and needs help.

Please share. If you adopt Lulu, I will happily offer as much support as I can. Worried about transporting her home because she is a nervous dog with a bite history? I’ll come along for the ride and handle her myself. Scared to leash her up because she is a nervous dog with a bite history? I gotchu. Seriously. If you give Lulu a chance, I will do whatever I can to help make it work.

If there’s no one out there for Lulu… I get it. We can’t save them all. There are multiple other dogs on the euthanasia list for this week. They all deserve to live just as much as Lulu does (if not more… they don’t all have a history of biting out of fear). Please consider adopting ANY dog from the Pet Resource Center. The more adoptions, the more kennel space, which means they might postpone Lulu’s euthanasia deadline by another day.

Meet Kahlua and Tigger!
Kahlua is an extremely sweet kitty, she is diabetic. She needs a bit extra support to keep her healthy, but we are always happy to give that! She is an absolute beauty, look at that cute tortie face 💕
Tigger is a very shy but absolutely adorable kitty. He is a bit guarded so we give him the space he desires, but we are always ready if he decides to come out of his shell!
