Preparing for Tropical Storm Debbie: fresh sand, mulch, hay and lots of fresh greenery to hide in. Added another tarp on the south side of the big aviary to hopefully give the color mix 2 dry sides to ride out the storm.

What extra precautions do you take to prepare your covey for an incoming storm?

Well THIS explains a lot. Echo has been shredding her cage liners daily for the past couple of weeks even though she has plenty of toys available to chew. I was happy that it seemed to distract her from overgrooming herself as she has been doing for the past few months. I always have referred to her as a “girl” even though I’ve never given her a DNA test (I never saw the point as she is the only parrot in the house). She is a little freaked out this morning and hasn’t said a peep and isn’t diving into her breakfast as she normally does. This is a first for both of us!
