June 24th is the most amazing day of the year because, it is known as CAT WORLD DOMINATION DAY!
Today is about the kitties and how they pretty much have taken over YOUR world. Make sure to partake in the celebration if you have any cats because today they are considered royalty. Just make sure not to feed too much treats (or tell them that they rule the world... it'll inflate their egos)

During the month of June, People who foster animals try to educate others in what it takes to be a foster and how they could start the process. One of the great things about fostering is that you can help save a life and potentially help find these fur babies their forever home.

May is Annual Chip Your Pet Month!
While having your pet trained or in a secured location is great, There is still a chance that your precious fur baby may run away or get lost. A great way to keep your pet safe and to be reunited is by getting them microchipped. Microchips are small and are inserted underneath the skin - between their shoulder blades- that way it stays intact and with your pet at all times. Many other clinics will place the microchip and have you register it but, here at Pet Point, we will Microchip your pets and register it for you! Call us today to hear our prices and set up their next appointment.

Happy Pet Theft Awareness day!
Did you know that there is estimated total of two million pets stolen a year in the united states? There are many ways in which you can keep your fur babies safe such as :
1) Having them microchip - Microchips are a great way in keeping your pets safe because, if your pet were to be found by shelter or vet, they will be able to scan the microchip and find your contact information. Just make sure to update it !
2) Tags!- Make sure your pet has a collar with a tag of their name and your number. You can also get a county tag for your pet that has a special serial code that associates your pet to you!
3) Spay/Neutering - One of the main reasons why pets are stollen are for their type of breed. If your pet is fixed, it could also reduce the risk of your pets going far from home.
4) Safe environments - Keeping your pet in a secure location when you are not home is essential! Make sure your home and fence has secure locks that will prevent a thief from have the chance of taking your pets away.
There are many other ways in which you can keep your pet safe but, these are some of the most important ones. We can help ! If you want to get your pet spayed/neutered , microchipped, or getting a Pasco county tag , contact us to set up an appointment.

Here we have an ear hematoma!
What causes an ear hematoma? The external ear has a layer of skin on both sides and a layer of cartilage sandwiched between the two skin layers. Blood vessels run just beneath the skin. When something irritates the ear canal, your dog will respond by scratching or shaking its head. Excessive or violent shaking causes one or more blood vessels to break, resulting in bleeding into the space between the ear cartilage and skin on the inner surface of the ear.
Some aural hematomas are treated by draining the hematoma and injecting a steroid into the pocket. Repeated draining is often needed so be prepared to return to your veterinarian for a few visits. Oral steroids are often recommended as well. This treatment method may eventually eliminate the problem, although it may take longer to achieve the same result as surgery. Some hematomas are treated with oral steroids alone depending on their size and location.
