If wolves can be trained without force, so can your *insert "aggressive" or "stubborn" breed here*.

Regardless of whether you choose to call a dog "aggressive," a "red zone dog" or anything else, you STILL do not need to use physical force. My background is in working with wolves and wolfdogs, and I still have all my fingers. Cooperation, not coercion, is the key.

Summer is settling down, this good weather is the best time to get out and do some training! Appointments for private lessons are still available!

Training is more than obedience!
We took Remy to the creek today, to foster his interest in water. We reinforced his natural curiosity and built his confidence by praising any attempts to climb/swim/investigate. We wrapped everything up with some manners practice in a new environment (recall, heel, sit, and down) which was rewarded with some delicious chicken heart treats!

As we approach July 4th, please take care to prepare your furry family members. Set up white noise machines, ensure their safety spot is prepped (a crate, their favorite bed, a blanket fort), and administer any anxiety medications at least an hour before the festivities. Also please check tags for: correct phone numbers, legible print, and secure connection! More pets are lost around this holiday than any other day of the year.

There is training available to help pets deal with the sights and sounds of fireworks, please reach out if you need help!

As a dog care worker, I've been dragged around by dogs on every tool known to man. I've been dragged on:
Slip Leads
Choke Chains
Prong Collars
Harnesses
No-Pull Harnesses
Head Halters
And probably other tools I can't even remember right now, too.
If a dog hasn't been taught not to pull, has no incentive not to pull, or desires what he can't reach more than he desires to engage with you, then they're going to pull no matter the tool used.
