It’s almost time to "fall back"!
🐾 Daylight savings ending is a change in our human schedule, but it also affects our pets. Your pet may struggle with this change, so here are some tips to help:
🐾 Keep your cat on a flexible schedule that is dictated by behavioral and social cues, and make sure to keep your cat enriched with play and toys.
🐾 Dogs thrive on routine, so rather than changing everything at once, you can try slowly pushing back their routine by a few minutes over the course of a couple days.
🐾 Pets are intelligent and adaptable, so even if you haven’t tried implementing any changes, they should adapt in a couple of days. Just have patience and trust your pet!

Fall is mushroom season, and some can be toxic to pets! 🍄 Keep a close eye on your furry friends during walks and in your yard, making sure they don't snack on any mushrooms.
⚠️ Why it’s important: Ingesting poisonous mushrooms can lead to serious health issues like vomiting, diarrhea, or worse. Stay vigilant and keep your pets safe this fall! 🐶🍁

Animal Safety Tips for October

As October rolls around, it brings with it a host of seasonal changes and celebrations. Here are some important safety tips to ensure the well-being of your pets during this time:

1. Keep pets indoors during Halloween: With trick-or-treaters around, it's best to keep your pets inside to avoid stress and potential escape. The noise and unfamiliar costumes can be frightening for them.

2. Beware of toxic treats: Chocolate, candies, and sweets can be harmful to pets. Make sure that candy is stored out of reach and educate children about not sharing treats with pets.

3. Secure decorations: Halloween decorations, such as candles, pumpkins, and wires, can pose hazards. Keep candles out of reach to prevent fires, and ensure that decorations do not have small parts that pets could swallow.

4. Choose pet-friendly costumes: If you plan to dress your pet up, ensure that the costume is comfortable and doesn’t restrict movement, vision, or breathing. Avoid costumes with small parts that could be chewed off and ingested.

5. Check identification: Make sure your pets have proper identification. Collars with tags and microchips can help reunite you with your pets if they get lost.

6. Watch for seasonal plants: Be cautious with fall plants and decorations like chrysanthemums, which can be toxic to pets. Keep all potentially harmful plants out of reach.

7. Monitor outdoor activities: As temperatures drop, be mindful of your pet's tolerance to the cold. Limit outdoor time, especially for small or short-haired breeds, and provide a warm place for them to curl up.

8. Fireworks awareness: If your community celebrates Halloween with fireworks, be aware that loud noises can scare pets. Create a safe space for them to retreat to during these events.

By following these tips, you can help ensure that your pets stay safe and happy throughout October. Enjoy the season with your furry friends!
