Absolute Angel Dog Training

Absolute Angel Dog Training Absolute Angel Dog Training specializes in hands-on dog obedience training services around Lynchburg, Virginia. Nice To Meet You!

Let us help you achieve in having that well-mannered dog you’ve always envisioned. I’m Laura Pezzulo, Owner Of Absolute Angel Dog Training. 🐾

I discovered my passion for dog training during my career as a law enforcement officer. With years of experience assisting K-9 handlers, I learned a variety of techniques and tips that have allowed me to hone my dog training skills. I’ve proudly trained Lun

a, my German Shepherd, in search and rescue, working one-on-one with Jocelyn Stohl, a Vermont State Police Lieutenant (Ret.) and the Drone Program Manager with the New England K-9 Search and Rescue. In addition to Luna, my late Rottweiler mix Raja was trained and successfully passed the Canine Good Citizen test upon our first attempt. Her canine good citizen certification allowed us to visit schools and nursing homes on our own, where many of the people that we would encounter would refer to her as an “absolute angel.”

Absolute Angel Dog Training was born out of my passion to provide one-on-one dog training services in my community. It’s my mission to assist all dog owners residing in the Amherst and Lynchburg areas and beyond in relieving their frustration and anxiety of dog ownership through hands-on and in-person training. Through my business Absolute Angel Dog Training, I’m a strong advocate of least intrusive, minimally aversive (LIMA) training. I believe in providing professional dog training and education in a positive manner that will help bridge the owner/dog relationship. I also understand every dog and situation is different and will adjust training methods to best suit your needs when necessary. I’m proudly certified through the International School of Certified Dog Trainers, am a professional member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, and a graduate of Dr. Ian Dunbar’s SIRIUS Dog Trainer Academy. No matter the issues you might be facing with your dog, the size of your dog, or the breed of your dog, I’m confident I will be able to help. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!

Regardless of the size of your dog, be aware that it is mating season for coyotes!

Have you spotted or heard coyotes in your neighborhood recently? It's coyote mating season! Although you may see or hear coyotes more frequently this time of year, this is not cause for concern. Coyotes are part of the Virginia landscape, even urban areas. Here are a couple tips for preventing interaction and conflict with coyotes during this time:

💡Secure your trash and pet food. While most coyotes feed on natural foods, including mice, rabbits, carrion, deer, and fruit, they may be attracted to human-related food. Consider coyote-proof fencing.

💡 Supervise your dogs while outside, use a short leash and consider keeping small pets indoors. Small dogs and cats may be viewed as prey, while larger dogs may be viewed as competitors.

If you spot a coyote, stay cautious, keep your distance, and make noise to scare them off. Do not run from a coyote. It's important to help maintain coyote’s fear of humans and deter them from neighborhood spaces through the use of the following hazing methods:

➡️ Yell and wave your arms
➡️ Frighten the coyote using a noisemaker, such as a whistle, air horn, bell, or soda cans filled with pennies, dead batteries, or rocks
➡️ Throw small projectiles (sticks, small rocks, balls) towards the coyote
➡️ Spray the coyote using a hose or spray bottle

If a coyote has not been hazed before, it may not immediately run away when you yell. It is important to keep hazing until the coyote leaves the area. You may need to use a combination of hazing techniques. The more often a coyote is hazed, the more effective it will be to change its behavior.

🎉Congratulations Abbey!!! Check out what her mom said after Abbey finished our Sainthood Program:

"My dog was a rescued dog from the Humane Society. She was obviously untrained and very timid. Through Laura’s training, she is more confident, responds to commands and is all around a happier dog. And that makes me happy! Laura loves dogs and is so patient with them. I would recommend her to anyone. Abbey will sit, stay, leave the counter tops alone and come back when called. She is an “absolute angel!”

Thank you Carol Martin! It was my pleasure helping you and Abbey 😁
