I realized in my update posts that I have failed to acknowledge who we owe the most thanks to- and that is to Jesus. ❤️ I know we thanked those of you who have prayed, but I didn’t take the time to truly acknowledge God for so many things in this season. He not only protected and brought home our sweet girl, but He protected us, too. He gave us strength, hope, and comfort in moments that seemed too much. He provided us friends in our community and strangers alike to hold us and put in the work with us. He drew us closer to Him as we prayed and relied on his goodness to bring Darla home. I know not everyone following Darla’s story is a believer, but I hope this story is a reminder to you that there is a Creator who loves you and listens to the longings of your heart. He doesn’t always answer yes- and this certainly didn’t happen in our timing or in the best of circumstances, but He brought our baby home. & He sustained us through it all. I hope you feel loved today, and so does Darla. ❤️

To the comments I haven’t replied to- I’m sorry! I’ve tried my best to keep up but some get lost in notifications. Just wanted to share her progress with you all! She is gaining strength and energy each day! Today she started cuddling her brother/partner in crime, and frequenting her normal spots in the house. She is still having some trouble with her vision, but otherwise she is hanging in there! Keep praying for her recovery!

DARLA UPDATE!!

Tuesday night I got a call from someone following the story who had FOUND Darla! He said she was in bad shape and wanted to get her to the emergency vet right away, so we met him there asap. He was so so kind to take her in as soon as he found her and got her to people who could help.

When we saw her it was so sad to see the state she was in, and honestly because of her missing fur and wounds on her face, it was hard to tell if it was her. The color pattern was hers, the size, the breed, the beautiful big Darla ears, but it was honestly hard to be certain in that immediate moment. She was very comfortable with us but she was still extremely traumatized and wouldn’t respond to a name.

We agreed to treat her regardless because whether Darla or not, we wanted to care for this pup. After treatment, the news was actually good- she didn’t have too much damage. The trauma to her face was from a stick stuck through her mouth, and they were able to remove and suture up. She’s on all the meds she needs and was able to come home with us that night to begin healing.

The vet, however, didn’t think this dog was as young as Darla. We have her at home loving on her and helping her gain weight as she is just skin and bones, barely able to stand. The more we spend time with her and the more life comes back to her- we only become more convinced that it’s her.

I’m sharing all of this to be transparent, because there’s some chance that Darla could still be out there. At this time, we don’t plan to keep searching. She was found where all of the Darla sightings had been, SO if by some chance this isn’t her, that means Darla was never once seen after she went missing.

I want to thank EACH AND EVERY one of you who have shared, commented, followed, prayed, searched, called, texted, drove around, held the trap, checked in with us in any way. This has been a heart wrenching journey, and we are SO JOYFUL to have her home and to have the chance to help her heal and love her.

In reference to the photos, one is from right after she was found. In the others she is completely shaved because they had to get all of the mats in her fur out, so they obviously don’t look like sweet spoiled fluffy Darla. Now, she has the spirit and heart of a fighter and a survivor. Thank you for getting her home to us. ❤️

To update those of you asking about the dog that was spotted on 5th & Madison today-

I did drive over there as soon as I could but there was no longer a dog in sight so I couldn’t confirm if it is her or not. Right now the only flier in that area is at Vito’s so I will get some more posted that way.

One person commented on the original post saying that dog lives on that road and will go home, so it’s possible that it’s yet another dog who is “allowed” to roam. I’m not giving up hope though! It COULD be her!

Thank you all for following and for sharing this post with us! Say a prayer for sweet Darla- that wherever she is she is safe, warm, and fed- & of course that she makes it home to us ❤️

MISSING DARLA UPDATE-

REWARD is up to $1,000!

We are still MISSING our sweet girl!

We believe the Florida Ave sightings were actually a neighborhood dog that looks like her who is allowed to run loose. Thank you for anyone who reported those sightings, though!

We haven’t had a sighting in almost 2 weeks and I still don’t have any real confirmation if the Taylor St. / Grace St. /Dunbar area were really her or not. That last sighting was 1/25/24.

Darla was originally lost in the College Lake Trails which are now closed due to construction. The trails were searched extensively at the time she was lost- and university staff have all kept an eye for her.

Darla could be anywhere. All area shelters have a lost pet report on her, but still no luck. We’ve seen story after story to NOT LOSE HOPE and keep posting, so that’s what we’re doing. If you see her PLEASE call 4193893127 or 4344776944 immediately.

Do not call to her as it may scare her, but try to bait her with food if you are able!

Lastly, if someone has her and you have that information- please plead with them to do the right thing, and report it to us. We are desperately missing Darla. Thank you all for the support you’ve given in so many ways!

Darla update! She was seen again in a neighborhood off of Florida Ave a few days ago- likely 1/30 or 1/31- more fliers have been posted in that area and the trap has been moved from
the Grace St neighborhood to off of Florida Ave near Jubilee. Please share with friends and family in those neighborhoods!

FOOT SEARCH- we are going out at 9am tomorrow- Saturday, 2/3/24, to search for her and wanted to extend the invite to those of you who have offered. It will be helpful to have people talk to the community and cover more ground. If you’d like to join us, please meet at Jubilee Family Center at 9 am and we can make a game plan for who can go where. Please text me with any questions at 4193893127 or call me in the morning if you can’t find us!

REWARD is up to $800!

Thank you all for your support and sharing!

These were the last sightings of Darla on 1/25. I plan to go put a trap in this area today. Please let me know if you live around there if you may be willing to keep the trap in your yard!

Thank you!

Today when we prayed over breakfast - we of course prayed for Darla’s return. However I also prayed- that if nothing else, God would allow us to be notified of a sighting since we hadn’t heard in almost a week. Today we got two separate calls from the same general area. While we haven’t found her yet, it has given us a boost in hope- and a gratefulness for how God hears our prayers.

If you do see Darla in the Diamond Hill or White Rock neighborhoods, she may not come to you now that she’s in survival mode. Please try not to chase her, but let her come to you, and try to bait her with food if you have any! Another phrase that MIGHT lure her is to say “get in the jeep!” .. even if she doesn’t see our car maybe that phrase will register for her.

Just wanted to share some thoughts now that she has been seen again. Thank you to everyone for all of your help and support these past two weeks!

Please help me share this page in the Lynchburg, VA area! Local pages are starting to send messages that I’m posting too much and stopping other lost pets from being seen. While that hurts me a little- I’m trying to stay positive and keep fighting for our baby’s return! The best thing I can think is to get as much traffic to this page as possible!! THANK YOU to everyone fighting with us!

UPDATE- this person reached out to me to confirm they don’t have Darla. Thank you everyone for helping me find her so that I could know. Please keep sharing other posts so we can try to narrow what neighborhood Darla may be in!

People in FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS!! This may or may NOT be Darla as the footage is too blurry to tell. If you see a woman walking on Mosby Ave or nearby in the coming days- can you help us confirm or deny if the dog she has is Darla? A neighbor says she’s never seen this woman with a dog before. Photo is from today 1/22/24 around 120pm.

Any tips or help appreciated!!

Darla wasn’t this groomed at the time she was lost but this is what her collar/harness would have looked like.

Due to generous donors - we have built up a reward of $700 for the person who brings Darla home! Of course, we’d love for someone to just turn her in or bring her home- but if this extra motivation gets someone to search or give us the information we need, we will do what it takes! & we are SO grateful for the donors.

We miss this sweetheart!! Lynchburg friends- Please share this page and help us get the word out about Darla! We believe the word needs to get to the right people who may have seen her or who may have her!

01/22/2024

is brought to you to expand the search efforts for our dog, Darla.

Darla was first lost on the College Lake Trails on 1/10/24. She was seen off of Florida Ave on 1/11/24 and again around 1/18/24. She was also possibly seen in the Diamond Hill neighborhood around 1/18/24.

She is a miniature schnauzer - when she was lost she had a maroon collar with a tag as well as a black harness, though these things could have come off by now. She is FRIENDLY though lost dogs in survival mode may not approach.

If you see Darla or know that somebody has her PLEASE contact us ASAP at 4193893127 or 4344776944.
