AAAAAAND.... for the first time we're offering a version of our Competition Hamburger. We have won the 'Cheeseburger in Paradise' category at Smoke on the Falls, against some of the best teams in the nation, with this crazy-good burger, 4 out of the 5 past years. You all have asked for them, so we're making them special for this meat sale. 2 frozen 8oz patties to a pack for $15. We'll include suggestions for buns and toppings, and you cook them and put them together just how you like your burger! (We suggest ordering extras for your freezer because we don't know when/if we'll make these available again).
We'll also have potato salad, slaw, our BBQ baked beans and special Dad-approved cupcakes (banana pudding, caramel/maple bacon/bourbon/chocolate, and chocolate peanut butter) available.
Pick-up will be Sunday June 16 on our farm in Flat Creek, from 12-2. We will have Kurvball Whiskey Old Fashioneds and flavored non-alcoholic lemonade for our friends and customers at pick-up!

Abbie took advantage of a rare quiet moment at the vet hospital to hang out with Lucy in the waiting room this morning. We've been so busy lately...and our team has really stepped up to the plate to deliver the best customer and pet- service they can. We've had a lot of joys and a lot of sadnesses and sicknesses these past few months with our team family. I'm so proud of these ladies who lift each other up in good or bad, pick up each other's slack when necessary, and show up every day to take care of you and your pets with smiling faces and sweet attitudes! Thank you all for being patient with us when we're short staffed, or busy with unexpected emergencies that are delaying your appointment time. We have the best customers and the best customer care team!

Today is National Rescue Dog Day, to bring awareness to the millions of homeless dogs in shelter around the country. 'Rescued' is the best breed!
Tell us about your rescue or foster dogs! I'll go first....

This is Dixie! Her mom was a Boxer, rescued pregnant from the streets of Nashville. Her dad was a French Bulldog. The amazing people at Middle Tennessee Treasures raised Dixie and her siblings and found homes for all plus the Momma. They were born on Thanksgiving and had names like 'Mashed Potato' and 'Pumpkin'. Dixie's first name was 'Rosemary' but we already had a horse with that name!
Dixie insists on coming to the clinic with Wendy every day and you may see her trotting through the clinic on her way upstairs, stopping to greet everyone (except the big scary dogs) on her way.

We WILL be smoking butts and brisket (because our son's lacrosse play-off game is Friday, not Saturday)! There is a lot of buzz about bird flu right now. Although it has currently been found in dairy cows in 9 states (not Tennessee), we are hearing very little about the affect on domestic pets like cats and dogs. We know that cats are susceptible and can die from it. Dogs seem more resistant. There is no vaccine for humans or cats and dogs at this time. The USDA is discouraging people from drinking raw milk during this outbreak. Here are two good current articles:

We are blessed to be in Lynchburg!

Pets in Moore County are so lucky to have Drs. Bryant and Wendy Morton and their staff here in our small town.

We'd like to give the Lynchburg Veterinary Hospital a for not only being available when locals most need you but also for all the volunteer work you do in our community. They also make it a point to be open one Saturday each month for the overbooked and busy among us. They'll be open this Saturday, April 27 if you need them.

This is an excellent article on the current state of Friends of Animals. PLEASE read the entire article and share! Our local rescue can not exist without donors, volunteers, and all of the support we can find! Brandi and Laura have both done an amazing job!

As the current director steps down, the Moore County Friends of Animals must find a new path forward to address the endless problem of stray, neglected, and abandoned pets in Lynchburg.
