With the colder weather coming in for the next few days DO NOT make drastic changes to your horses routine. This is going to cause stress and potential colic. Keep the routine the same if you can. Horses will survive as long as they have shelter, hay 24/7 and unfrozen water. Locking them in stalls and closing the barn to prevent air flow is also a use NO! Horses tolerate the cold better than the heat. If they have shelter and they don’t use it they will be fine. They will turn their backs towards the wind to prevent them getting cold. Add blankets if you must but don’t panic because they will be fine. They have been fine all these years and every winter we have a week of “Artic Blast” just breathe and stay calm as your horse proves to you they will make it out unscathed 😅
