Meet Roo, a spirited and playful pup who's ready for his forever home! After being at the shelter since August 2024, Roo is eager to find a loving family where he can thrive. This cuddle bug is high energy, enjoys playing fetch and has a knack for thinking that TV and mirror reflections are real...He also jumps like a kangaroo (guess where we got his name...)! How do we know all of this? Well, this cutie had previously gone into a foster-to-adopt home before we knew how he'd fare with cats. Lesson learned - NO CATS!

Roo is about 80% housetrained but definitely needs some manners. He would also benefit from a patient and assertive โ€œmentorโ€ dog to help him learn boundaries and social skills. Roo would make a wonderful companion for a family with kids who can engage his playful spirit!

Special thanks to our 501(c)(3) partner, Friends of Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center for taking on Hobo's medical case. He'd been hit by a car prior to his arrival at the shelter and suffered a chip fracture on one of his back legs. Thanks to FO, he's ready to roll again! This wouldn't be possible without generous ongoing donations from those who care about our cause to provide the best care & find the best homes for our animals.

Poor Chief can't catch a break! One of the pups from the emergency shelter in Nov 2024, Chief wasnโ€™t allowed outside of his kennel for what appears to be most of his previous life based on the severe hip issues & other disturbing injuries heโ€™s arrived with. Thanks to FOSVASC, he's recently undergone hip surgery! Chiefโ€™s got more problems than a math book & needs A LOT OF LOVE! By DONATING to FOSVASC, you can help sweet pups like Chief get healthy again & FIND A FOREVER HOME!

For a pup who has been through so much, Chief has THE SWEETEST temperament. Chief still LOVES people & soaking up all the affection, scritches & lovin's he can get! We love transport days! This past week, we happily took in 13 cats from Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center, 4 puppies from Prince Edward County Animal Care and Control, and 1 puppy from Russell County VA Animal Shelter! ๐Ÿฉต

Tubs has never lived inside, except here at the shelter, which is never ideal. While okay with other dogs, a meet & greet with any current pets would be a solid plan; but we recommend a home with no cats. Kids 12+ who can handle his jumpy nature and occasional overexcitement should be just fine! Tubs needs some obedience training, but once he finds himself a soft bed next to a toasty fireplace on a winter evening, it will be worth your while! Shelters also dread this weekend...we ALL get overloaded with pets that were scared away from their homes due to the loud booms & flashy lights. Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center is an open admissions animal shelter and is home to dozens of animals looking for their forever homes. We are a Municipal pound for Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro so we take in all strays, abandoned animals, and owner surrenders. Please call the shelter with any questions regarding animals found on the website (www.svasc.net) for more information. We are always in need of donations. Things we need are bleach, laundry detergent, cat and dog food (wet or dry), puppy and kitten food, kitten milk replacer, paper towels, blankets, beds, toys, wash cloths, towels, crates, and of course monetary donations.
