Valerie and I have been busy this summer transferring the shop into a cool man cave! She was able to help with hanging the pine T&G which was huge to get the project completed!
The garage door was covered up on the inside for more efficiency and to give it a more finished look.
Two of the mounts are our sons
deer but Aimee said she was keeping hers.
The garage cabinets were finished up this morning. I still have to add a tv and a small fridge and continue to decorate if needed. If you’ve ever been in the shop it looks much different than when it was a taxidermy shop. I shot a buck November 2 so I have only one deer to mount this winter.
Many before and after pics.

Thanks to Tim Collins for being a friend and for his help on this project when needed

I’ve just about have all the deer wrapped up for the year and with all that’s going on I’m glad to have an enjoyable and less stressful summer!

During the last 33 years I’ve had several requests to teach people my craft but I always
declined the offers. About a year ago a friend asked and I said let do it then in January another person asked so I’ve been tutoring two individuals this winter. One has one more step and he’ll be good to go and the other due to both our schedules it will go on through the summer.

The main reason for this post in March I had a procedure done and after biopsies and an enhanced CT Scan I’ve been diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. So with this and Valerie’s condition the time is right to close down the shop!
This has been a hard decision to make but most should agree that the right is right for our decision to cease operations. After Valerie’s events I have switched to UIHC for my care!

My plan for the shop is to sell some equipment but I’ll keep just enough so I still can work on my own personal stuff or for a few friends if I so choose.

My plan for the shop is to line the walls with some kind of wood and fix it all up and move all my whitetail mounts and have a hunting room man cave!

The last 33 years have been great! Probably my last post on this page unless I show progress on the shop renovation.
Thanks again to all my customers over the years!

Last night Valerie and I made it public that she has a medical condition!
With that event the business is now closed. The timing is bad but this must be done as we have enough to deal with! She has more tests next week so pray the results will be good!

All calls will go to voicemail and will be deleted and texts will be sent to this page.
Valerie’s health and well being is my only concern right now.

If next week’s tests results are on the positive side I might accept some deer later on which would be late muzzy season but time will tell and I’ll post that later if I do.
Thanks Scott

Deer season is about to start so again this year any youth hunter will get a discounted price when bringing in a deer. This offer is only valid September 16- October 1.

Due to the cost of increasing supplies and operating costs prices have increased this year!

Wall pedestal and full pedestals will increase substantially.

This year I probably won’t be taking in spare capes as I don’t want the extra inventory. I have a few from last year and after that you will need to find a spare cape. I’ll help if needed.

Here’s the caping diagram again and have a freezer handy in case its needed until the deer is delivered.
Have a great and successful deer season.

I spent the last two days working on my last project for the year! The last several years I’ve turned down several elk due their size but had a weak moment and accepted this big bull that was shot in Utah.

With a busy summer lined up and more free time needed I will stop accepting deer for the rest of the season.
I will still accept my good PAST customers that have been with me over the years 👍🏼
If you were scheduled for a appointment on or before December 27 you’re still good to go.
Spacebook shadows my posts because I don’t pay them to boost my posts. ( which will never happen. I succeeded in this business long before FB was around ) I will put this on my personal page also.
On my cellphone all calls will now go to voicemail.

I’m looking for a few replacement capes and they need to be mature bucks. Thanks and hunt safe!

I’ll be out of the shop
November 2-5
November 9-12
November 17-19 if needed. Due to distance driving home a night won’t be possible. Texting is the best way to reach me and I’ll respond after dark. Be safe everyone and enjoy the time.

The youth hunters are off to a great start! To promote the youth and deer hunting I’ll again give all youth a discount on a shoulder mount that is tagged with a youth tag regardless of the season.
This year will have challenges with material cost and hopefully no supply chain issues.
Reposting the diagram on the proper way to cape a deer. Hunt safe and have a great season

Today everything is wrapped up and it feels good! With several unplanned interruptions and with supply chain issues it was a challenge but in 30 years in business I’ve always gotten them done 👍🏼
I don’t take and post many pics but did manage to take a few. Everyone has been notified and ready for pickup!
The wall pedestal buck is a net 177 P&Y deer, the small bodied buck came from west Texas, and random bucks from various seasons.

A few announcements before gun season.
This year will be busy just like the last 25 years so a few suggestions if you tag a buck worthy of putting on the wall. Cape the deer out and give me a call and deliver ASAP. Plus the temps won’t be ideal for longer hanging times.

Things can change quickly in the shop with high numbers so the sooner the better on getting on the list.

This year all deer must be caped off the carcass when delivered. Time does not allow for me to do this during gun season. Go to my FB page for the caping diagram!

I will only prepare deer for out of state transport if time allows.
Many times I forget to ask but if you want your deer aged please remind me.
Everyone have a safe and enjoyable season.

Three items to cover
This will be 30years in the business and I’ve seen many issues with caped deer. Many issues have stopped due to knowledge on not what to do but the consistent problem that still continues is area around the legs and brisket area. This diagram makes it so easy on the proper way to cape a deer. Three cuts is all that is required.

Know what to do before you cut!!

Second item is inflation has hit the industry. With that the deposit has also increased which makes the final payment easier. As always I’ll work with customers if needed.

Last item I received a text from a customer on the three deer I did him last year.
Mule deer and a Coues deer from the Sonoran desert in old Mexico and a whitetail for his son. Thanks Shaun for the business👍🏼
