They are sometimes known as milk frogs due to the milky-white substance they secrete, which is poisonous when consumed by predators.

And you can tell their age by the amount of bumps on their backs! Just like Doctor Brawley likes to say, you get older and you get a little lumpy.

Have you ever heard of a Lli Pika?

These adorable rodents are often called the magic rabbit. They live in rocky areas at high elevations, such as mountain peaks, inland cliffs, and talus slopes. They often can be found inhabiting the gaps in the rocky walls, using the small areas as dens.

They are very hardy little rodents. Able to withstand very cold temperatures. They don't hibernate like some animals during cold months, instead they hide under the snow to help preserve their body heat.

Some say they look like little teddy bears.

This is a very rare breed of cat that can, at first glance, look like any regular tabby but isn't. Unlike tabby cats, their stripes branch out in a bold pattern over an orange-toned background. They also have a very unique circular stripe pattern on their heads. While unique to domesticated cats, it is similar to wild tigers.

The answer is Bedlington Terrier!

You don't see a lot of these dogs, they are actually considered to be quite rare. Known for lamb like tufted face, they sadly tend to have an inherited liver disease which dealt a big blow to the breed in the 1970's.

Did you know that Flamingos are actually naturally white in color?

Yes, they are not naturally pink, despite how we are used to seeing them. Young flamingos are hatched white or grey and only turn pink due to their diet! The main source of their diet, and the reason for their pink color, is a diet of brine shrimp and blue-green algae. Which interestingly enough, is food that would kill other animals if they attempted to eat/live on it.

I always thought Flamingos were pink and never second guessed it. I think there is even a color we call Flamingo Pink!

I know we post a lot about dogs, cats, horses and other popular animals but we thought it would be fun to post some fun facts on some 'questionable' animals.

Most people have heard about the Loch Ness Monster, affectionately called Nessie by her fans.

Did you know there are over 1000 supposed recorded sightings of Nessie since 1934? A lot of people hotly debate on whether she is real or not. Many believe she is a plesiosaurus, a type of dinosaur from 205 million years ago.
In 1934 people were paid $2.00 to be on 'monster watch.' And in 2005, when part of a triathlon included a swim through Loch Ness, the participants were insured against bites from the monster.

What do you think? Does Nessie exisit?

And if she does, do you think the insurance companies would have really paid up if someone got bit?

Of the two, I'm thinking it's more likely she exists than the insurance companies actually paying out! But that's my opinion.

The started appearing in the US in 1999 when some US cat breeders took some interest in them but even in their homeland of Thailand they are extremely rare. Their signature feature is their eyes and how they are different colored in most cases. Some people even consider them to be good luck.

The Belgian Laekenois originally started off as a herding and guard dog that was primarily in Belgium. Around the first world war they started to be used as messenger/package delivering dogs and became slightly more wide spread.

With heat waves sweeping across the country, blue-green algae is appearing in new areas and posing an increased risk to pets.

Found in lakes, ponds or any source of standing water, it’s extremely toxic and consuming it can be fatal. The best way to prevent accidental poisoning is to keep a close eye on pets when they’re around water.

If you think your pet has been exposed, take them to the nearest emergency veterinary hospital and contact the ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435.
