This Great-horned owl was hit by a car and got stuck in a luggage rack in the Eastern Washington area. 🦉 The finder brought the owl to us, where our vet team is treating its broken wing. Great-horned owls are tough birds, and we’re hopeful this raptor will make a full recovery. 🧡
‼️ If you ever find an injured wild animal, we ask that you don’t feed it or give it medication, please give us a call for further instructions. Our wildlife experts are here to help keep wildlife safe and get these animals back to the wild as soon as possible! 🌲

Check it out! 🐦 These two gulls were found in Seattle after sustaining minor injuries of unknown origin. Interestingly, one of them was identified as a Glaucous-winged gull but the other had the field marks of a Glaucous-winged/Western gull hybrid! Hybridization among gulls is so frequent that ornithologists will occasionally give them common names as if they were unique species. Thankfully, the two gulls made a full recovery and were released together a couple of weeks later! 🌊
Dr. Taylor Haefs (P4W Vet Intern) shares the story of one of PAWS’ current patients—a Bald Eagle! 🦅 This eagle was found grounded in a backyard, weak, and anemic. After our team provided a thorough exam and x-rays, the raptor did not have any broken bones, but did have lots of bruising along his wing and back. Our team is working hard to get this Bald eagle healthy, recovered, and back to the wild! 🦅
PAWS is a host site for interns from Partners For Wildlife (P4W) and we host one intern each year for six months. Dr. Haefs is doing half of her Veterinary Medicine Internship at PAWS and the other half was done at WSU. 🩺

The PAWS Wildlife Rehabilitation Center is caring for its first-ever Boreal owl! 🦉 This little one was found in Lynnwood after a window collision and was thankfully brought to us for care. Initially, our team didn’t see any broken bones but noticed the bird showing some deficiency in its wing and leg. However, this owl seems to be making progress and has shown some signs of flight! 🦉
