This week has been one of those weeks that put an ache in your heart, tear in your eye, and a pit in your stomach. The devastation that the flooding across the Texas Hill Country has caused will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on each of us and is a reminder of just how special and fragile life is.
We had staff members in Center Point over the weekend, Kerrville today through Compassion Church, and will continue serving the needs of our neighbors in the upcoming days and weeks to come any way we can. Thankfully, we’ve had a pretty large stockpile of smoked sausage, dried sausage, and snack sticks leftover from this past season that we’ve been blessed in being able to donate to numerous organizations in and around areas most impacted by the flooding. Its our sincerest prayer that these items provide first responders, search & rescue teams, and volunteers with fuel to continue searching for those who are still missing as well as assisting in the daunting task of cleaning up the debris and damage left behind.
After talking to a close friend who has been volunteering with Operation BBQ Relief in Kerrville, he told us today “Seeing so many people jump in to help others and everyone working together for a common purpose has been very humbling and has restored my faith in humanity, especially for our children.” While it is so difficult to get past the magnitude of devastation and see so many families lose loved ones, we pray that a peace that passes all understanding and a love that shines brighter than the darkness that claimed so many lives will permeate through each heart and soul who has been affected by this tragedy.
