We train dogs in obedience and behavior modification, while teaching families how to be the leaders their dogs need and provide the clear communication for the best relationship possible. Our goal is for our clients to be able to enjoy their dogs as true part of the family; including them in more activities and allowing their dogs more freedom!

Who doesn’t love the feeling of petting and snuggling our dogs, especially when they’re looking back at us lovingly!?

Affection is so powerful, which means we need to use it wisely. This one thing to be aware of when it comes to affection can make a huge difference- When you are sharing physical affection with your dog, be sure your dog is engaged with you!

If your dog is distracted by things around them or otherwise preoccupied, that is not the time to share physical affection. Let affection be a special moment between the two of you—two sided. Get your dog’s attention first and make sure they are engaged with you to fully maximize the benefits of physical affection and avoid the problems that can arise from giving it at the wrong times 🐾💕

The majority of struggles people have with their dogs come from a lack of self awareness and impulse control. One small change you can make in your daily life to build that muscle, keep it strong, and create more value in you is making sure your dog has a calm, patient moment and waits for permission before gaining access to things they’re excited about.

This can be before eating, coming out of the crate, going in and out of doors, or getting in and out of the car. These moments discourage the impulsive side of the brain from being rewarded and instead encourage the thinking side as well as teaching your dog that you are the gateway to the good stuff! 😊

The point of training isn’t to limit your dog. It’s so you can maintain control, set boundaries, and clearly communicate at any moment which actually allows your dog to do more.

This video is a great example of that. If I decide it’s okay for the dogs to grab the food my baby is throwing so everyone can have a little fun, that’s not a problem. I can allow it because I also have the ability to stop it just as easily. I can ask the dogs to leave the food alone and leave the kitchen, and they understand exactly what that means.

Because of consistent training, I don’t have to worry about chaos or conflict. I have control of the pack, the dogs understand the rules, and I can change those rules depending on the situation.

In the first clip, the dogs are allowed to take the food. In the second, they’re respecting a boundary — no entering the kitchen and no food. In the last clip, you see the process of me asking them to leave the kitchen and hold that boundary and then be relased back.

That’s the goal. Not “always yes” or “always no,” but the ability to have both when you need it 😊🐾

It is completely acceptable, and often beneficial, to have your dog spend time in their crate or a separate room during holiday gatherings. If your dog becomes easily overwhelmed by changes in the environment, isn’t quite ready for that level of distraction in their training, or if you simply want to be fully present with your guests without worrying about your dog, that is perfectly okay!

In many cases, providing them with a calm, safe space and a special chew is far less stressful for both of you. This allows them to relax while you enjoy your celebration. You can always spend intentional, quality time with them later when the environment is quieter and more predictable.

The goal is to keep the holidays as stress-free, enjoyable, and memorable as possible 🙂 🎄 ❄️

This video is for all the super friendly, overly excited social butterflies out there. Having a dog who loves everyone is a great problem to have, but it can become a challenge if they value every person and dog out in the world more than they value you. What I’m talking about here is teaching neutrality first. Before we let these dogs greet others, we want them to learn that we are the source of all the good stuff, and that greetings happen through us, not in spite of us.

This isn't about making dogs antisocial at all. We want them to have great social skills. But the only way to get polite, permission-based greetings later is by teaching neutrality now. When your dog can stay calm and neutral around all the exciting things, you will then have a dog who can actually listen, think, and make better choices. And once they understand that their access to greetings comes from you, your relationship gets so much stronger.

Build the value in yourself first, get reliable neutrality, and then start letting them have those friendly interactions. That’s how we get dogs who can still be their happy, outgoing selves, but with manners, patience, and control 🙂

Puppy Cannoli (4 months!) had her very first field trip, and she did such a great job! Its so much more about intention when it comes to training versus just time. We have been really intentional with all of her foundation and prep work and it showed the moment we stepped out into the real world. I’m so proud of this little girl!

And if watching her journey has you wanting more, stay close. You’ll soon be able to access exclusive training content — including full puppy training from start to finish — along with online coaching options to help you and your dog every step of the way. Can’t wait to announce soon!

Thank you to our welcoming and dog friendly community 🐶💕

Back-tying puppies!

Back-tying is one of those simple tools that makes a huge difference. It gives puppies structure and keeps them from practicing things we don’t want—like having accidents, chewing things in the house, or getting into trouble when our attention is split.

But what I love most is how many long-term skills it builds. When a puppy is back-tied, they naturally learn how to handle small frustrations, regulate themselves, settle without constant attention, and think through little challenges on their own. These are the same skills that make for confident, easy adult dogs later on.

In the video, Cannoli is back-tied while I’m making dinner. She has a chew bone to and some calm adult dogs around her to show good behavior. She’s had enough leash-pressure work that I can back-tie her with a slip lead, but for younger pups or ones without that foundation, I recommend using a harness instead 🙂

What are “Red Zones” in multi-dog households?

Working with packs has always been one of my biggest passions and honestly, it’s where my love for training really began. Over the years, we have worked with many multi-dog homes, and one of the most common issues we see is fighting between dogs in the same household.

“Red zones” are those moments or situations where tension and conflict are most likely to happen- times when arousal, stress, or feelings of possession or entitlement can be high.

Knowing when those red zones are happening can make all the difference in preventing a fight before it starts.

If you have multiple dogs at home, or even if you just have guest dogs over or host playdates, it’s really important to be aware of these red zones. Knowing how to read your dogs and having communication lines in place allows you to step in and give direction before things escalate.

Awareness, communication, and leadership are key when it comes to keeping harmony in a multi-dog household.

Huge thank you to Once Upon A Time Weddings for having us at their Craft market!

It’s hard to believe it’s been 12 years since I first started bringing my dogs to local markets for Serenity K9. Community and connection have always been at the heart of Serenity K9, and we’re so grateful for everyone who stops by to say hi and supports local businesses.

Swipe to see a throwback to one of our very first events — complete with my homemade poster and our old logo. We’ve come such a long way, and I owe it all to the incredible dogs (past and present) who’ve been part of the journey 🐾❤️

What a great day with the amazing volunteers at Furever After Rescue! 🐾

We had the privilege of hosting a pro bono private seminar for this wonderful group, and what a success it was! The day was packed full of learning — from reading body language and practicing safe handling, to setting realistic expectations for adopters, and so much more.

Giving back to the community is something we deeply value, and we’re grateful for the chance to support the people who work tirelessly to help dogs find safe and loving homes.

If you’re part of a shelter or rescue and would like to host a training seminar with us, please don’t hesitate to reach out — we’d love to help however we can!
