Who would you adopt? That’s the most common question we get asked working at the shelter. As animal lovers, we have too many to take home. Well today on Who would you adopt Wednesday. We have our boy FULANO😎. This guy right here is the most popular dog among our staff members. If we could, we would adopt him! But we already have too many 🥲 but let me tell you about Fulano. Yes he is your typical pitty. He loves to jump, play, has a small case of the zoomies and is a very handsome guy😍. When you have one of those days when work and life has you down. Look at this giant smile. Fulano would brighten up your day, he would lift up his paw and stare at you with his big ol eyes that just say “it’s going to be okay”. Fulano is here today to show case what an amazing dog he is. We love him so much and just want him to find a good home. ❤️ If you want to learn more about him. Thank you, Hope Animal Foundation, for giving us more spots! We tried our best to get more spots available for the community. As of today, we have 19 more spay and neuter vouchers. They are first-come, first-serve. Must bring your dog in to get weighed before purchasing a voucher. Only two vouchers per household. Dogs must be on a leash with a collar and cats must be brought in carriers or a cat box. Cash or card only! Stop by Mon-Fri 10am-4pm. Call us ahead of time to verify if we still have spots!

Does your child enjoy reading or love animals? A great way to combine the two is with our Reading to Critters Program. Must be under the age of 16, parent must be present, and you must love animals! We offer this program as a great way of enrichment not only for your child, but also the animal. Meet Dodge, a resilient and charming orange tabby who’s just emerged from a remarkable adventure. After spending three unexpected days trapped in a truck, Dodge is now safe and ready to find his furever home. Despite the ordeal, including a minor injury where his ear was burned, Dodge’s spirit remains unbroken. His striking orange coat and soulful eyes are a testament to his strength and charm. Dodge is eager to bring joy and warmth to a new home.

This week in adoptions! We had to say goodbye to some of our longest term residents, which makes us both sad and happy! We’re so glad these cuties were able to find their new homes. We still have plenty of animals at the shelter who need homes or fosters. Please contact us if you’re interested in any of our other animal’s.

Office hours include licensing, questions about our TNR, our low cost S/N program and any questions for our officers. If we are not open, we ask that you please hold on to any strays. For emergencies contact the Sheriff’s Department at (559) 675-7770. You must hold on to strays until we open.

For sick or injured animals in the County, please contact our office Monday - Friday from 8am - 5pm at (559) 675-7891. After hours or on the weekends. You must call the Sheriff’s office at (559) 675-7770. We are not a 24 hour agency. Please contact these numbers before you bring in sick or injured animals when we are closed.

I don’t think there is a stronger argument for why these animals should be adopted than how cute these drawings and short descriptions are from the kiddos yesterday. Every morning we run playgroup with the dogs in our adoption center and it’s everyone’s favorite part of the day! The dogs love to get our to run around playing with each other to get out some of the built up energy from being in the kennels all night. Playgroup also is a huge help in keeping the dogs socialized and ready for their new families. Please be aware of the heat this summer. Be sure to keep yourself and your pets cool. When taking pets on walks always be aware of how hot the ground is just because the air feels cool does not mean the ground is the same temperature. If a surface is over 125 degrees destruction of the skin happens in as little as 60 seconds. Before walks follow the 7 second rule: press the back of your hand against the asphalt for 7 seconds if it is too hot for your hand, then it’s too hot for their paws. For walks and outings in the heat please use protective gear to keep them safe such as booties. Thank you! ...Tenga cuidado con el calor de este verano.
