I signed Barnabas and I up for this class. It’s all done at home so you don’t have to leave your house! It’s a great way to bond with your dog and tire them out on these cold winter days and nights.

You don’t have to take the test if you don’t want to. I plan to with Barnabas. I’ll be teaching Phryne the tricks but she won’t be ready for the test this round.

I did the How To Date Your Dog in 30 Days which had a similar format in that it was all done at home and it was lots of fun. We learned a lot and I really liked having some intentional time with my dogs.

Ella found the coziest spot in the house.

I’m a big believer in going at a dog’s own pace. Phi has been coming to daycare for a few months once a week. We started with just a few hours and have been increasing the time as she adjusts. When Phi first started she laid by the front door the entire time with a pen around her that she could come out of if she wanted. I called it her “safe spot” and if she did come out and showed signs of being stressed I told her to “go to your safe spot” and she went to that area to hang out and decompress a bit.

Today Phi was laying on the couch for a bit and is currently laying near me while I ride the bike with other dogs playing and napping around her.

She’s come such a long way and I love seeing a dog learn new things and discover my house is a safe place to spend some time away from home.

Tonight Frankie and Ella got their dinners in a snuffle mat. It’s a great way to have your dog use their brains and forage for their food. A tired brain = a tired dog. Plus it’s fun to mix things up!

Our hearts are heavy tonight as Neila’s family had to make the difficult decision to help her cross the rainbow bridge today. She declined rapidly this week after it was discovered she had a tumor.

Dear Neila, you gave some of the very best snuggles. It was so fun to throw the ball for you and watch you enjoy squeaky toys. You didn’t play a ton with other dogs but you tolerated Barnabas bugging you to play and eventually gave in to a little game of face-biting and generally being silly rolling around on the couch.

You were a gentle girl and a wonderful companion to many. I’m going to miss our couch snuggle sessions and taking naps together. Rest easy sweet girl.
