We had an incredible time at the Heritage Elementary School STEM event this evening! 🌟 The kids had fun exploring veterinary science with activities like making stethoscopes from funnels and tubing, examining real dog X-rays to guess what they ate, and checking out dog and cat teeth on our models. 🐶🐱🩺

A special shoutout to Fern, the school service dog, who was there to lend some extra paws-on support! 🐾🐕 It was great seeing the impact of service animals in the school environment.

We also had the pleasure of meeting a majestic Red Tail Hawk from the Land Trust of North Alabama! 🦅

Thank you to everyone who participated and to Heritage Elementary for having us. It was a memorable evening of fun and learning!

Heartworm disease ❤️

Here is a video of heartworm microfilaria in the blood sample of one of our patients. Heartworm disease gets transferred to dogs and cats via a mosquito and it is prevalent in our area. It is a serious disease that left untreated can cause severe heart, lung and other organ damage and in some cases death. Luckily there are several medications available to prevent your dog or cat from getting heartworm disease. Call us for more info and get your pet protected!!
