Bring your plastic caps (and medicine vials at our location!) to help Rykers' Ridge Elementary School students meet their goal of creating a recycled bench in memory of their classmates.

We'll be collecting at our office through the end of the month.
(Pill vials will be cleaned and packaged by our team to help meet the plastic goal without exposing students to medication residue.)

The 4th-grade students and the Environmental Club of Rykers' Ridge Elementary School invite you to join them in a very special community project to honor the memory of their classmates, Iyla, Leland, and Adelia Briner.

We need your plastic caps...we need 200+ pounds of them to be exact! Click the link to access a PDF with links to information about acceptable plastics (no medicine bottles please), a link to Green Tree Plastics- ABC Partnership so you can follow along, and we look forward to working together to create a wonderful memorial.

Rabid skunks have recently been found in nearby Clark and Washington counties... something that hasn't occurred in Indiana in 20 years.
Please make sure your pets are up to date on their rabies vaccines! (Vaccine due dates can be found on your pet portal: https://shorturl.at/jzST1 )

We are saying farewell to Dr. Kelli Cobler as she completes her final week of work at Waltz Animal Clinic. We appreciate all she has contributed to our practice and the care she has provided for you and your pets.

For the past nine years she has been making a 45-minute commute to Madison three days a week and supporting the area’s equine needs with her mobile practice the other two.

We wish her the best as she settles into her new position closer to home. Thank you, Dr. Cobler!

Wondering about how Dr. Cobler's absence may affect appointment scheduling at our office? Check for an email from us from January 10th with full details.

Good news! We have not had any suspected cases at our practice of this respiratory illness the news has been reporting.

At this time, our best recommendation for dogs who will be in social settings over the winter (boarding, play care, grooming, dog park, etc) is to consider vaccinating for the flu (and, as always, ensure all core vaccines are up to date).

Patients current on their other wellness services can receive the flu vaccine as a quick technician's appointment on Tuesday or Friday mornings at our office. A booster vaccine will be needed 3-4 weeks later for full protection. Give us a call if you'd like to book an appointment.

Not sure of your pet's vaccine status? You can check it out on our portal: https://olsr4.covetrus.com/ #?AID=RpWDNR341JQ14D8e414EGC3HQ5NJQU8Et5NGDBNVmF7HQWJ94&cl=1&location=1

Dog Owners: You are probably hearing a lot about the mysterious respiratory illness that is affecting dogs across the country. Here are a few things our veterinarians want you to know to keep your pets safe:
• Be vigilant in monitoring your dogs for signs of illness after boarding, holiday travel, or other activities where pets may have commingled with others. If a dog develops a cough or lethargy, a veterinary visit should be recommended.
• Make sure all of your dogs are up-to-date on all of their recommended vaccines including distemper combination (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza and parvo), Bordetella, and canine influenza.
• Reduce contact with large numbers of unknown dogs when possible. Just like with other respiratory diseases, dogs that are co-mingled may be at greater risk for developing the illness.
• Keep sick dogs at home whenever possible (unless taking them to the veterinarian for examination or treatment). Social settings carry inherent risks of disease spread.
• Avoid communal water bowls shared by multiple dogs.
• Be aware that brachycephalic breeds (those with flat faces) seem more susceptible to the negative effects of this illness.
