Can you help?

URGENT!!!!!!! 🚨🚨🚨 FOSTER NEEDED ASAP!!

This is a new post, but the same sad story. We are reaching the point of Obi having nowhere to go. No one has expressed interest in fostering or adopting him. His foster home CANNOT care for him any longer. His foster mom is physically unable to care for him due to having a broken arm. It’s literally impossible. We are open to transferring him to another rescue or an out of state adopter. Please share Obi far and wide. He’s so full of life and though he might not live long due to his felv, he’s currently stable and happy and we want the best for him. 🖤

Obi is in need of a new foster home! This kitten is adorable and so very, very social but he has very specific needs-

1) Obi is FeLV positive. So he needs a foster with no other cats unless they also have FeLV. He does get along with other cats! He's also good with dogs and good news is FeLV is not contagious to dogs so a home with dogs is fine!

2) Obi came to us with some severe injuries and was paralyzed plus had to have his tail amputated. His stub of a tail is all healed and he can walk around pretty good with just a limp. But...he doesn't use the bathroom by himself. So he needs someone that can manually stimulate him to potty a few times a day. He doesn't mind it all because he loves the extra attention.

Obi is a little extra work but he has such an amazing personality and is worth it!!

University of Wisconsin Veterinary Care is looking for cats with FIP. The UWVC is conducting an ongoing study examining the evolution of feline coronavirus and the host's antibody response in the transformation to the virulent form of the virus in both affected cats and their unaffected contacts. Study participants will have up to $400 of their UWVC bill reimbursed to reach the diagnosis of FIP, or can enroll without any cost to submit samples without a UWVC appointment and workup. Unfortunately, there is no treatment component at this time, but the knowledge gained will help the researchers understand the virus and take step toward new treatment options.

Paws up! The Board of Health for Madison and Dane County heard you and unanimously passed the ban on elective declaw out of committee! It will be heard by the City of Madison Common Council next Tuesday, December 7th! Madisonians, we'll let you know how to register in support once the agenda comes out!

Thank you Madison District 3 Alder Lindsay Lemmer, The Paw Project, Madison Cat Project and the numerous area veterinarians and citizens who voiced their support to end this archaic practice!

Amazing news!

Madison could be the first city in Wisconsin to ban cat declawing under a proposed city ordinance. Many vets say this is a common sense law that is long overdue.

Too many cats get surrendered to shelters, abandoned, or even euthanized due to behavior problems. Sadly, many of these "unwanted" behaviors occur when humans don't understand what cats need. So called unwanted behaviors always make sense to the cat because they provide a solution and address a natural need. It's important to understand WHY the cat is displaying the behavior so you can address the cause and/or provide a better alternative. Cats don't misbehave just for the sake of being bad or spiteful.

This is Ronald. Ronald ingested portions of a lily plant over the weekend, which causes kidney failure in cats (some varieties cause issues for dogs too!). Thanks to the quick thinking of his Mom, he was taken promptly to the emergency clinic where they induced vomiting and he brought up all ingested portions of the plant! Ronald is doing great today! ♥️

He wore his Easter best to help remind everyone that all lilies are toxic to cats, and some pose a risk to dogs as well!! Please be cautious this spring and Easter weekend! 🐾

Hospice foster needed

Hospice Foster!

Would you like to give an old man cat a wonderful last year (or so) of life? This sweetie was rescued from a hoarder in 2019, in the worst shape imagineable. He was starving, anemic, covered in fleas. He is estimated as 12 to 14 years old and has intestional cancer. He is currently with a foster, but could use more love and one-on-one attention.

He does not currently require any medical treatments and uses his litterbox as long as it’s close by. He will need to be monitored closely for quality of life. Currently he is energetic, eats well, and is aggressively friendly (if you don’t give the lovings, he will demand it).
