From 27 lbs to a playful 13 — and into his forever home! 💛
When enrolled Harley in the Fit Pets for Rescues Challenge last year, he was 27 pounds of purr and loaf. Moving was tough, and adoption was even tougher. But thanks to safe, steady progress and the platform, Harley began his weight-loss journey the right way — slow, healthy, and supervised.
Now at 13 lbs and living his best life in a forever home, Harley is jumping, playing, and thriving. And the best part? He’s still on the program with support from his new family.
Sandra, MCP Advisory Member, says it best:
“It’s hard for a person to do this on their own. That’s why Fit Pets for Rescues is such a great resource for other rescues. Enrolling a larger cat benefits the rescue, the cat, and the adopter.”
Madison Cat Project saves cats through partnerships with other shelters & the community. Whether it's partnering with area shelters to bring in cats who need another chance or supporting farmers & other folks by offering affordable spay/neuter surgeries & rehoming options, they help hundreds of cats (& people) each year.
Join us in cheering on Harley & supporting his rescue, Madison Cat Project, as they continue their vital work! Madison Cat Project
👉 Rescues, this challenge isn’t just for pet parents — it’s a game-changer for adoptability, too.

Is Your Pet Overweight? Here's How to Tell.

Most pet parents don't realize their pet is overweight — until it affects their health.

Here are a few signs your furry friend might be carrying a few extra pounds:

🔹 You can’t easily feel their ribs
🔹 No visible waist from above
🔹 Trouble grooming or playing like they used to
🔹 Gets tired quickly playing or on walks
🔹 Extra padding over the back or belly

Knowing your pet’s Body Condition Score (BCS) is the first step to helping them live a longer, healthier life.

Join the Fit Pets for Rescues Challenge and learn how to assess your pet's BCS using the app — plus track progress, win prizes, and help local rescues.

🎉 It’s free, fun, and just getting started!

Meet Jasmine, a sweet kitty who’s been on a journey to better health with the help of Healthy Pet Connect! 🐾

When Jasmine first came to see us on 4/16/24, she weighed 11.84 lbs and had a BSC of 8 (ideal weight is around 9.5 lbs). We worked closely with her owner, Grace, to create a personalized nutrition plan to help her shed a few pounds.

Grace and her mom got Jasmine signed up on Healthy Pet Connect and started tracking her food intake and weight right away. 📱📊 The app also made it easy for Grace to keep track of Jasmine’s health, and we were able to monitor Jasmine’s progress closely.

When Jasmine started drooling, vomiting, and losing her balance, Grace used the app’s notes feature to let us know immediately. Thanks to her quick updates, we were able to reach out, schedule follow-up appointments, and address these concerns with the care Jasmine needed. 🩺💖

Results: With consistent tracking and communication, Jasmine is on her way to a healthier weight and feeling much better! We’re so proud of the progress she’s made!

We love seeing pets thrive and owners who care deeply about their furry friends’ health. Great job, Grace, and thank you for trusting us with Jasmine's care!

Are you looking to add a new addition to your family for the new year? We still have two adoptable kittens here at WTVC!

Cider and Clove are siblings who we have been fostering in Bug's Cat Gym, and they are patiently waiting to find their forever home!

Cider is a spunky, playful, and extremely affection girl. Clove is a confident, energetic, and sweet boy. They have both been spayed/neutered and microchipped and are up to date on most vaccinations.

If you or someone you know is looking to adopt a cat, please come by to meet them! 🐱❤️🐈
