We are a 501(c)3 all-breed companion animal rescue based out of Dane County, Wisconsin.

📧 EMAIL us at [email protected] with all questions to reach us directly! We place animals in our volunteer foster homes so they can get all they need while they await their forever homes. Animals do not reside at our office or clinic; they live in our volunteer foster homes. We offer full-service, no

n emergency veterinary care Monday-Friday. We provide spays, neuters, dental care, and other surgical services for cats and dogs. We also offer wellness health services (annual exams, vaccines, blood work, microchips, etc). Our clinic sees our Underdog animals, and is also open to the public. We offer lower-cost spay/neuter services to everyone, but help with other health services on a sliding scale basis. Email us at [email protected] to make an appointment for veterinary services.

Sneak peak: Meet Cornbread! 🐾
This sweet pup is about 6 months old and is as delicious as, well, cornbread! 🥰 She was surrendered from a Dogo Argentino breeder because her nose didn’t turn completely black — yup, that’s the reason! But who could resist that sweet heart shaped nose!?

At ~50 pounds, Cornbread is still growing and learning, and she’s been great with other dogs while working on her house and crate training. Cornbread is gonna be a BIG girl, but she’s ready to fill your heart with BIG love. 🐶💕

Cornbread will be making her way up to Wisconsin on January 11! Who can resist that adorable face and her unique “flaw”? 😍 Stay tuned for more details!

From Dorito ears, to his signature ear flip… he’ll have your heart melted with his playful spirit! Gimli is 10 months old and an absolute goof. 🥳

This young dude would do well in a home that will give him loads of attention, doggy friends (who like to play of course), and appreciates his enthusiasm for life 😊

On this we rung in the new year with a total of 21 lucky animals making the trip north to find their forever homes ♾️

That breaks down into-

All arrived on this cold morning, but reassured their lives would change for the better ❤️ Stay tuned as their profiles become active!

Louise wants to say that her hair may be grey, but she still has got lots of personality! 7 years young and still as sweet as can be 💕

Willard was a last minute add on to the transport coming 1/4 🚐

A couple care instructions for this 10 year old Gremlin-

🐾 Do NOT feed after midnight
🐾 Avoid bright light
🐾 DO NOT get wet

All jokes aside, this senior boy is blind and as sweet as can be! He was rescued in Alabama and needed his remaining eye removed. Since his rescue he has gotten the TLC he desperately needed 💕

He is said to get along with kids and other pups (we don’t have any info on cats at this time). Willard is truly just looking for a fuzzy blanky and warm lap to retire on 🐶

Meet Sophie! 🐾

This total puppy love is a little under 3 months old and is ready to embark on her greatest adventure yet! A forever home! 🏠

Sophie’s siblings quickly all found their homes, but our girl has been waiting patiently. You see Sophie was found to have a heart murmur, grade 4/6. What does this mean? So glad you asked!

❤️ Murmurs happen when blood flow of the heart is abnormal

❤️ Grade of murmur does not correlate to severity of disease

❤️ Sophie doesn’t feel any different

❤️ Sophie could outgrow this

❤️ Radiographs were taken of our sweet girl and there was no abnormalities noted. Great news!

Sophie is living the dream at her current foster home. Who are quickly falling in love with her. I mean who couldn’t?

Her favorite activities are snuggling her foster family and playing outside! She is a perfect mix of adventure and a calming presence. 🌟

Tangerine is a 7-month-old bundle of energy, love, and curiosity! With her brave, adventurous spirit, Tangerine is sure to bring tons of joy and entertainment to any home. This sweet little girl is always on the go, exploring every corner and making sure she doesn't miss a thing. Tangerine is a playful kitten who will happily chase toys 🧸 It may take her just a day to settle in, but after that, she's all about snuggling and demanding attention. 🐾💖

For today’s … the thing that is always at the very tippy top of our wishlist every week: foster homes!! 🏡

If your vision board for 2025 includes making a difference, enriching your life, and meeting new friends, look no further! 🤩 Fostering is a fabulous way to get involved with a powerful community of likeminded folks working together to save lives. 💪🏼 You meet other fosters, volunteers, and adopters while also getting to spend time with some pretty special pets. 🐶🐱🐰

We often hear that “I could never foster; I’d want to adopt them all”, and it’s true that adoption day can be a bittersweet affair. 🥹 But adopting a foster out of your home means there’s a spot open and you can say yes to another pet and save yet another life! 🤩 As one of our fostering volunteers once said: “I used to want to adopt them all… now I want to foster them all!”

A few fast facts about fostering:
🐾 Fosters choose which pets they will take and when - no one is ever assigned! Even a temp commitment to cover a few days can be incredibly helpful!
🐾 Supplies are available and all vet care costs are covered, and we have volunteers who can help with transport to and from appointments if needed.
🐾 In addition, each new foster gets a mentor who will walk them through the process and be there to answer questions at every step of the way!
🐾 We also have a dog trainer and cat behaviorists on the team who can answer questions and provide resources to set everyone up for success.

🎉🐾 New Year, New Beginnings for Sharbi! 🐾🎉

As we ring in the New Year, we want to celebrate Sharbi— avery special girl who's ready to start the next chapter of her life! 🐶❤️

Sharbi is an 8-year-old, 61 lb, gentle soul who's looking for her forever home. She may be a senior, but she's full of love, cuddles, and calm energy that will make her the perfect companion for anyone looking for a laid-back, sweet-natured pup 🥰

🌟 What makes Sharbi so special?

- She gets along with other dogs, cats, and children—basically, she’s a friend to everyone she meets! 🐶🐱👶

- Sharbi is deaf due to past ear infections, but that doesn’t stop her from navigating life with grace. She’s learning hand signals, and is already mastering “sit” and “stay” with her foster mom’s help! ✋💖

- She’s low-energy, loves snuggling on the couch, and enjoys leisurely walks where she takes her time to explore the world around her. 🚶‍♀️🌼

- She's just starting to discover the joy of toys and chews, and sometimes channels her inner puppy for a few playful moments. 🧸🐾

Sharbi is housetrained, but will need potty breaks every few hours during the day. She does a great job at giving signals when she's ready to go!

Whether you’re a first-time dog parent or have other pets, Sharbi would be thrilled to join your family and shower you with love. She's a calm, affectionate girl who just wants a comfy bed, some cozy cuddle time, and to be by your side through all of life’s moments. 😍

HOPPY New Year!! Want your 2025 to be full o’ floofs? Apply to meet our Hopps family! 🤍🧡

Judy Hopps arrived at Underdog this fall with blue eyes and gorgeous white floof. But under that floof, Judy was hiding a secret 🤫 … a few days after getting to her foster home, Judy Hopps built a nest, and Bonnie Hopps arrived on the scene! 🤣

Now that Bonnie is old enough, both girls are ready to be adopted TOGETHER! 🥰 Judy is about a year old and weighs 3-ish lbs. She’s a super friendly gal and loves to spend time with her foster mom. She’s also been known to zoom around the room when it’s mealtime. 🥬 Baby Bonnie was born in September and weighs almost 2 lbs, but her fluff makes her look much bigger! It’s also constantly growing, so she’ll need an adopter committed to regular brushing and haircuts. 💅🏼💇🏼‍♀️ Both buns love pets and attention and do well with their litterbox.

We love our “repeat offenders”!

If anything is better than one Underdog pet in your life, it’s two! ❤️❤️ Shannon and Julia adopted Ray, a blind puppy, from us last year and recently added little Mo to the pack as well.

Ray was the biggest baby when he arrived at Underdog. Ray was born blind and needed special care to keep his eyes from being painful. Ultimately, our vet team decided that removing both of Ray’s eyes would help him live his happiest, most comfortable life! He was nervous at first but soon started to play with everyone in his foster home and learn from the other dogs. 🐶

Shannon and Julia heard Ray’s story shortly after losing their husky - a dog that had slowly lost vision overtime. Being the fabulous dog moms they are, Julia and Shannon set up the house with special rugs and kept all furniture in the same locations so their sweet pup could navigate his space a little easier. After seeing our Instagram post for Ray, Shannon and Julia knew their house and family would be perfect to meet his needs! 🎉 They even drove all the way from Minnesota to meet him!

Mo’s story began in the south where he and his sisters were found dumped in a field with clipped ears, docked tails, and severe cases of mange. Thanks to our rescue partners who quickly swooped in, all three pups got the vet care they needed and started making beautiful recoveries. Once again the story spoke to Shannon and Julia, and once again they made the trek from Minnesota to meet their sweet boy.

The best part of Underdog is our community, and we are so incredibly grateful that Shannon, Julia, Ray, and Mo are all part of it! ❤️🐾
