Meet Bonded Pair Max & Angelina
It's #FosterFriday! Looking for a pair of friendly pups? Then you have to meet bonded pair Max and Angelina. The two love each other's company, but they also love being showered with affection by humans. Max, 7 years, loves belly rubs, and Angelina, 8 years, likes to sit near or in your lap. They also enjoy walks and playing in the yard. They're not fans of other dogs. Since they're looking for a special home together, they're members of our Lonely Hearts Club and their adoption fee has been reduced. Contact our Adoption Center to scheduled an appointment to meet them because they're staying with a foster family.
DCHS, 9 Groups Welcome Over 100 Pets
Perhaps you heard, DCHS and nine other Wisconsin animal groups met over 100 pets flown from overcrowded southern shelters to Madison yesterday (Feb. 25). BISSELL Pet Foundation coordinated and funded the transport flight of cats and dogs from shelters in Birmingham, Ala., and Columbus, Ga., to Wisconsin. Nearly 40 cats from that transport are staying in Dane County at DCHS and Angel's Wish Pet Adoption and Resource Center. Watch our website to see when these kitties are ready for adoption.
The transport was the 11th transfer DCHS has participated in so far in February to help animals from overcrowded shelters, including six Wisconsin groups, as well as animal organizations in Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.
Today (Feb. 20th) is National Love Your Pet Day, and we have a number of pets looking for loving families, like Bo Gunther. This 1-year-old pup can be shy, especially around men, but once he warms up, he's playful, snuggly, and silly (watch the video). He's looking for a family without small children who will spoil him with treats, fun adventures, and love.
Interested in meeting Bo Gunther? You'll need to make an appointment so his foster family can bring him to the shelter. Contact our Adoption Center at (608) 838-0413 ext. 145 today to schedule your meet with him.

Meet Hoss
Hoss, 3 years, is a very sweet but shy pup. But once comfortable, he's playful, enjoys scratches, and may even give you a few licks. Maybe you heard about him earlier this week on the The John & Gordy Show: As We Were Saying. Hoss is looking for a patient family who will give him the time he needs to settle in. He's a member of our Lonely Hearts Club and his adoption fee has been reduced. Ask about Hoss in our Adoption Center as he's staying in a quieter area of the shelter.
Today (Feb. 3), 43 cats arrived at DCHS from a large rescue effort in Waupaca County where more than 70 cats are being relinquished from a single home. Local shelters and rescues were already at capacity and couldn't take in any of these cats. When Be The Change Rescue, Inc reached out for help, we were among a few organizations that stepped up.
DCHS staff examined all 43 cats and found some in need of dental surgeries, wound care, possible eye surgeries, and more. Almost all have skin issues related to flea infestation, and four were admitted to our Maddie's Felines in Treatment Center for ringworm, a highly-contagious fungus.
Of the 43 cats, 25 are bound for Angel's Wish Pet Adoption and Resource Center, a partner of DCHS’s Shelter Support Program through which DCHS provides their animals with veterinary care and services at an affordable cost.
These cats have come from a challenging situation, and we’re glad to provide them with the care and support they need. Over the next few days, DCHS vets will spay and neuter the cats as well as attend to any other medical needs.
We’re grateful to be part of a compassionate community that steps up for animals in need. Stay tuned for updates as these cats settle in and begin their next chapter of finding new families.

Happy #Caturday from Pumpkin! This senior kitty is blind but may see shadows. She's also hard of hearing and has shown signs of chronic upper respiratory infection. Pumpkin is super sweet and enjoys receiving pets. She's looking for a quiet retirement home with a family who will spoil her with lots of love and pets. She's staying in a quieter area of the shelter, so ask about her in the Adoption Center.
Brownie had so much fun giving kisses and playing with her new human friends before, during, and after her Pet-Entially Yours segment on News 3 Now / Channel 3000 today (Jan. 30). Everyone adored her, and she was quickly adopted. But her two brothers, Cookie (brown) and Gravy, are still waiting to find new homes. They're also very friendly and playful. Cookie and Gravy are looking for separate families who will spoil them with fun adventures, playtime, and love while also working with them on their puppy training.
Stop by our Adoption Center between 12:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Friday to meet Cookie and Gravy!
Does Button have a voice for radio? You be the judge!
This morning, Button, our 11-year-old brown tabby with the best grumpy face, made her debut on the airwaves on 94.9 WOLX and 105.5 Triple M. Don’t be fooled by her expression—this affectionate and playful lap cat is all heart once you earn her trust.
Button loves being petted, sitting on laps, and watching the world go by from her favorite window perch (with some judgment, of course). She’s got a quirky, talkative personality, complete with a gravelly meow that adds to her charm.
When she’s not ruling her kingdom, Button loves chasing string toys, swatting at fishing poles, and pouncing on catnip mice. While she enjoys her independence, Button adores her people and would thrive in a quiet home where she can be the center of attention.
If you're ready to be lovingly judged by a raspy-voiced queen, come meet Button today (Tuesday) at our Adoption Center! We're open from 2 PM to 7 PM.
What helps warm up a frigid day? Puppy kisses! We received a transfer of about a dozen dogs, most of them puppies, on Wednesday (Jan. 22) late afternoon. We also received a cat transfer on Thursday. Check out our website to see all of our available animals and stop by our Adoption Center when it's open from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm today (Jan. 24) to meet and adopt your new family member.
