Hey Folks,

I am Jimmy K, the owner of Hotel K Pet Sitting in Madison. I would like to address the situation of the social media posts from Maggie Ackley in regards to pet sitting her two cats, Archie and Piccolo. Sadly, Archie passed away 5 days after the pet sitting reservation ended.
Beginning on April 11th, Maggie stated in her social media posts that Kimi, the pet sitter for Piccolo and Archie, and Hotel K intentionally killed Archie. Maggie stated that we were “depriving him (Archie) of insulin”, and that we abused her cat. Maggie also stated that Hotel K and Kimi misrepresented ourselves and tried to scam her. There were and still are many other accusations that Maggie made that are serious and disgusting.

I’m here today to tell you that the events as laid out by Maggie in her social media posts and her reviews of Kimi and Hotel K are wrong. The accusations made by Maggie are a gross misrepresentation of the actual facts of the pet sitting reservation. The accusations made by Maggie are very hurtful and have caused significant harm to me, Kimi, and everyone at Hotel K Pet Sitting.

I will not, at this time, disclose the results of the ongoing investigation into the pet sitting reservation. I want to, and I will, but at a time that I feel that it’s appropriate. I have to let the investigations of Archie’s death and Maggie’s slanderous accusations run their course. I have full confidence that the facts will show that Kimi and Hotel K did not cause Archie’s death.

I’m also here to say that I stand by Kimi’s ability and qualifications as a pet sitter. I’ve known Kimi for quite some time and she is one of the kindest, sweetest people you’ll ever meet. Kimi has an extensive background caring for her own pets, and those of her friends and family prior to joining Hotel K. Like many other pet sitters here at Hotel K, I personally recruited Kimi to pet sit. In the three years Kimi has been with Hotel K, she has served nearly 100 clients with an estimated 1000 pet sitting visits without complaint from a client.

I am truly sad that you had to see the accusations made against Hotel K. I’m sure it was quite the shock to you. Afterall, you have to be able to trust your pet sitter, right?
I built Hotel K Pet Sitting around trust and my “Free Belly Rubs” philosophy. As a responsible business owner, I require all pet sitters I work with to have pet sitting liability insurance, to have references of past pet sitting clients, pass a ‘test day’ in the field, and go through my background review and interviewing process. The pet sitters I work with must buy into my “Free Belly Rubs” philosophy. Like I said above, most of the pet sitters at Hotel K are people that I’ve known for a number of years. I have nothing but respect and thankfulness for the pet sitters at Hotel K. They are truly the best pet sitters, in my opinion.

I know the accusations made by Maggie are scary, but I ask you to really read her posts and reviews. Then look at all of our reviews on Google, Facebook, BBB.org, and I’m sure other places. Each of those reviews can be verified by the author.

To the Hotel K clients that gave me a heads up about the social media posts, and those of you that defended us in the comments, Thank you! Kimi and I appreciate you.
