This morning on the feeder platform we have the first European Starling (the darker bird) These birds as its name suggests, are not native to North America but were introduced in Central Park in the late 1800's by a Shakespeare fan who released 60 birds referenced in his plays. They have adapted very well to the U.S. and can be seen in large numbers coming to feeders. Let's hope they don't like the buffet we are providing.

Harriers are opportunistic feeders. Although they generally fly over fields and look for small rodents, depending on where they are and the time of year, they will also take small birds, frogs, lizards and occasionally larger prey like rabbits or ducks.

WAITLIST ONLY
Join us Sunday, February 9th at 10am to learn about the Fisher in Connecticut! In the 1900s, fishers were considered completely gone from Connecticut, but reforestation and changes in land-use practices have allowed a population to recolonize the state's northeastern section.
