*Check meowt update!* Cali adopted November 2024
From her family: ‘Cali is absolutely the most loving and adorable girl with the funniest personality! She loves to talk- we introduced her to the world of wet food and now she asks for it all the time! She also loves to cuddle, even choosing to sleep under the covers from time to time (totally spoiled rotten), and she gives the sweetest love nibbles when she’s happy! She is adjusting very well to life with my grandmother, our 2 crazy dogs (Cooper and Eli) and 10yr old sassy orange girl, Bella.’

Today marked our 2nd Annual Puppy Love Fun Run at Burroughs Park in Tomball, and what a fantastic morning it was! With over 75 participants running and walking, we couldn’t have asked for a better turnout.
A huge thank you to the Concordia Lutheran High School, Tomball cross country team, our dedicated community members, and our incredible volunteers for making this event so special. We loved seeing so many AAR alumni dogs join in the fun—along with their families and furry friends!
Bo, Terrell, Wasabi and Blossom (all available for adoption) had an amazing time and enjoyed a break from shelter life. Thank you to our handlers for bringing them and spoiling them.
To our volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes, we are beyond grateful. Your efforts made this event a huge success! Every dollar raised will go directly toward caring for the dogs and cats at AAR, as well as those we will welcome in the future.
Thank you all for spending your Saturday morning supporting our mission. We truly couldn’t do this without YOU!

Bonnie’s story is unfortunately all too common.
Bonnie was found outside, pregnant again for the umpteenth time. Who knows how long she’d been struggling outdoors to care for herself and her kittens. Probably most if not all of her 6 years. Then the miracle happened: a Good Samaritan ended the cycle by bringing Bonnie indoors so she could have her last litter of kittens in safety and then, more importantly, get spayed so she’d never have to do it again!
Bonnie is healthy but in many ways still recovering from her ‘days on the streets’. She’s come a long way while with us, but is still shy & a bit unsure of us humans. We’ve had interested adopters, but Bonnie’s uncertainty comes across as disinterest.
So what would be a good home for Bonnie? It’d be a quiet one where she can start off in a smaller space like an extra bedroom, with parents who are content to leave her alone, giving her time to realize she’s finally home. Maybe that family is you?
Until the right family comes along our volunteers will continue to love & care for Bonnie, helping her to realize she’s no longer a ‘street cat’ but is ready to be a beloved family member.

Midi is the perfect example of a shy cat who needs a bit of patience. If you come meet him, spend a few minutes talking to him while he feels safe in his bed. This is the personality you can expect once he’s settled in! We know that while in his rescuer’s home he liked to cuddle and was fine around other friendly cats.
