The Smokin K Team is headed home from Las Vegas. What a trip full of memories! We had 9 Cowgirls & 12 horses make their way to the All In Barrel Race for 2 go rounds a buy back round and Finals round. These horses showed up feeling great & ready to work!
We had some Beautiful Consistent Runs and a couple hiccups made with the adrenaline, nervousness & the excitement of it all! Oh, and Multiple Checks Won!!💪

Round 1 (625 entries)
Emily & Bugsy qualified for the finals
Taylor & Zee qualified for the finals

Round 2 (587 entries)
Kacie Campbell & Milo qualified for the finals
Tessa Jesiolowski & Lilly qualified for the finals

Buy Back Round (200 entries)
Dylan & Willow qualified for the finals
Taylor & PepZee qualified for the finals

Megan & Rock had 3 Beautiful Consistent Runs that definitely made me proud & hit a bottom of the D check!

Kaitlyn & Chief made 2 Very Consistent Runs that definitely put a smile on my face. She’s been working hard to get where she is now and it definitely shows!

Zianna & Harley made 3 Runs with one run being their Personal Best as a team and I can’t wait to see them consistently match up!

Zianna & Moon had 3 Pretty runs barely dropping a barrel on 2 of them and missing the finals in the buy back qualifier by 2 spots.

Zalynn & Jessie made 3 Spicy runs which she would have made it into the finals in round 2 if a barrel didn’t get tipped.

Zalynn & Hendrix made 3 beast mode runs. This team definitely makes a statement in the arena & would have made it into the finals in round 2, If she wouldn’t have knocked a barrel.

All in all these girls were on
Fire with multiple W’s (WINS) in many aspects not just the multiple checks being brought home.
There were some L’s (Lessons) in the mix. Which won’t hold us down.. we learned some things in the saddle that will be addressed in the practice pen when we get back to our home state of Texas.

I READ THIS ON ANOTHER TRAINER'S PAGE AND THOUGHT AFTER A LONG HORSE SHOW SEASON... something to think about..!

"Trainers and coaches are the nuttiest group of people you will ever know. Who else gets up in the middle of the night to make your dreams come true when they could be sleeping? They find 100 ways to explain things they have told you a million times with the hopes that you may just get it this time... when in the corporate world you would be just fired for your incompetence. They keep us safe and make sure we have fun. They shake off their own bad rides to get you ready within minutes. They focus on you-- even when they shouldn't and manage to make it all work even when they shouldn't. They work tirelessly to make you new great horses and will support you even when you refuse to change horses even though it makes everybody's job tougher. They put your needs first... Often at the expense of having a personal life. Yes, they get paid for their services, but figure out their hourly wage, you will see real quick that the math sucks. Congratulations & Thank you!

Check out this Smokin K Student. Dylan became part of the team January of this year with the basics of riding. We’ve dealt with a lot of rain this year which caused some inconsistencies in weekly lessons but she took hold of every bit of knowledge I threw her way. Over the last 3months she’s been training hard. Which has made this Cowgirl really blossom. Her goal was to become a barrel racer and that goal has clearly been met. Check out her Friday night run placing 5th in the 2D open and 7th in the 1D youth. Having the 22nd fastest time out of 104 runners. We are so proud of you Dylan! Keep showing the world what Smokin K Performance Horses is all about!

Taylor & Pistol laying down a nice run today in OKC! This team is special to my heart because not only is Taylor my student, the Richardson’s purchased pistol from me. This is a jam up Smokin K duo right here!
